It seems to me you would prefer an old whore in charge of the pharmacy than a pharmacist.

???

No one has said anything about who is in charge of the pharmacy. All I have said is that it's none of the pharmacist's business to decide whether or not to dispense the birth control pills.

Frankly, I prefer someone with a college education, a very good knowledge of chemistry, and licensure as a pharmacist for my pharmaceutical needs.

No one has suggested that the script was written by the doctor in error. No one has suggested that there was a medical error. As such, his knowledge of pharmacology is irrelevant.

The doctor's scrip was in error ~ it didn't pass muster with the pharmacist. End of story.

And the old whore? Certainly you jest! And you are the one who said the old whore should be able to make a decision that the pharmacist should be bound to obey.

Get serious.

The possession of a Script is also irrelevant. A script makes it legal to buy certain medications.

It in no way translates to any requirement that any particular pharmacy carry, stock, or sell the medication in question.

If you have Identification showing that you are 21, it is legal for you to buy alcohol in the US - this translates to having the Script. If you go into a small corner grocer, you may find that the owner has chosen not to carry beer. You can rant and curse and throw as big a fit as you want over that, but the fact that you can legally buy beer does not produce an onus on the grocer to carry said product.

This situation is not in anyway different, and the tantrum you are throwing on this forum highlighting your sense of indignation is equally ridiculous. And no it doesn't matter if all the other stores are closed and it is your 21st birthday.

You are wrong. Every healthcare worker has the moral right to refuse to participate in any action contrary to his or her belief system. That refusal must take place before care has begun. This pharmacist was within his personal rights. His employer should be aware of his beliefs and provide access to another pharmacist willing to dispense or post a sign stating certain drugs are not dispensed at the facility, or not hire the person in the first place. If the pharmacist is the owner of the facility, he should post a public statement that his facility does not dispense certain products.

To use another of your examples, if a Jehovah's Witness nurse will not administer transfusions due to her beliefs, the facility should be aware of her situation and provide access to another nurse who can administer as the need arises. If the facility requires all nurses to administer, the nurse would not be hired in the first place. If the Jehovah's Witness nurse owns the facility it is within her right to dictate the terms of her business.

You can't walk into a Muslim meat market and demand they sell pork, no matter how much you don't like them.

You are advocating a slippery slope where doctors and nurses would be forced to perform abortions, a concept which is already becoming reality.
