In THE WEATHER UNDERGROUND, former Underground members, including Bernardine Dohrn, Bill Ayers, Mark Rudd, David Gilbert and Brian Flanagan, speak publicly about the idealistic passion that drove them to "bring the war home" and the trajectory that placed them on the FBI's most wanted list.

Fueled by outrage over racism and the Vietnam War, the Weather Underground waged a low-level war against the U.S. government through much of the 1970s--bombing targets across the country that they considered emblematic of the real violence that the U.S. was wreaking throughout the world. Ultimately, the group's carefully organized clandestine network managed to successfully evade one of the largest manhunts in FBI history, yet the group's members would reemerge to life in a country that was dramatically different than the one they had hoped their efforts would inspire.
Extensive archival material, including, photographs, film footage and FBI documents are interwoven with modern-day interviews to trace the group's path, from its pitched battles with police on Chicago's streets, to its bombing of the U.S. Capitol, to its successful endeavor breaking acid-guru Timothy Leary out of prison.
The film explores the Weathermen in the context of other social movements of the time and features interviews with former members of the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) [Barack Obama is supported by this group and may have himself been a member] and the Black Panthers [who founded Barack Obama's and Rev. Wright's Trinity Church in Chicago] It also examines the U.S. government's suppression of dissent in the 1960s and 1970s.
Looking back at their years underground, the former members paint a compelling portrait of troubled times, revolutionary times, and the forces that drove their resistance.

The Weather Underground Organization (Weathermen), is an American radical left organization founded in 1969 by leaders and members [Bernardine Dorn, Bill Ayers, Mark Rudd, David Gilbert and Brian Flanagan] who split from the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS). The group organized a riot in Chicago in 1969 and bombed buildings [U.S. Capital, U.S. State Department, Pentagon, police stations, etc.] in the 1970s.
They took their name from the lyric "You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows," from the Bob Dylan song Subterranean Homesick Blues. They also used this lyric as the title of a position paper they distributed at a Students for a Democratic Society (SDS)convention in Chicago on June 18, 1969, as part of a special edition of New Left Notes.
The Weathermen were initially part of the Revolutionary Youth Movement (RYM) within the organization Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), splitting from the RYM's Maoists by claiming there was no time to build a vanguard party and that revolutionary war against the United States government and the capitalist system should begin immediately.
The Weather Underground's founding document called for the establishment of a "white fighting force" TO BE ALLIED WITH the "Black Liberation Movement" and other "anti-colonial" movements to achieve "the destruction of US imperialism and achieve a classless world: WORLD COMMUNISM."
The group's first public demonstration was the "Days of Rage," an October 8, 1969 RIOT IN CHICAGO that was coordinated with the trial of the Chicago Eight. In 1970 the group issued a "Declaration of a State of War" against the United States government, under the name "Weather Underground Organization" (WUO).
Weather Underground members adopted fake identities and pursued covert activities. They carried out a campaign consisting of bombings, jailbreaks, and riots. Their attacks were mostly bombings of government buildings, along with several banks, police department headquarters and precincts, state and federal courthouses, and state prison offices. SEVERAL PEOPLE WERE KILLED. People who died were policemen, Brinks armored car guards, or Weathermen themselves.
Weather Underground activities have often been characterized as DOMESTIC TERRORISM, including a later description by the FBI.
The evacuation warning issued in their communiqués included statements indicating the particular event to which they were responding. For the bombing of the United States Capitol on March 1, 1971, they issued a statement saying it was "in protest of the US invasion of Laos." For the bombing of The Pentagon on May 19, 1972, they stated it was "in retaliation for the US bombing raid in Hanoi." For the January 29, 1975 bombing of the Harry S Truman Building housing the United States Department of State, they stated it was "in response to escalation in Vietnam." The Weathermen largely disintegrated shortly after the US reached a peace accord in Vietnam in 1973, which saw the general decline of the New Left.

It looks like the New Left was only underground, not REALLY gone at all....Today Ayers and Dohrn are respected academics, university professors. As such, they, and others like them, are MORE DANGEROUS than ever BECAUSE THEY are now "THE ESTABLISHMENT"!

So far I have only seen small excerpts of the Weather Underground documentary. Now that I know I can get it through Netflix, I will view it in its entirety.
I posted the information about the documentary on this thread to let others know out there that such a work exists.
Tonight (10/5) at 9 p.m. EST on a new program called “Hannity’s America” Sean Hannity is presenting a
1-hour expose all about Barack Obama’s radical/terrorist associations over the past 23 years.
Today I'm not so sure that impression was correct in terms of reality. If they are not repentant today, then the film was biased.

According to Federal Election Commission filings, Barack Obama has received illegal donations from Palestinians living in Gaza, a hotbed of Hamas terrorists.
Obama received more than $24,000 in campaign contributions over a period of two months last fall from three Palestinian brothers from the “Edwan” family in Rafah, Gaza, which is a Hamas stronghold along the border with Egypt. The story was uncovered by Pamela Geller of the Atlas Shrugs blog. (see Federal Election Commission report)
The Obama campaign tried to conceal these foreign donations by listing the campaign contributions as coming from Rafah, Georgia. They used the ‘GA’ from Gaza so it makes it look like it’s legal; and then for the zip code it says ‘972,’ which is actually the area code to dial over to Gaza.

God, I sure hope not.....but then again....
I posted this last night and several times before....WATCH THIS DOCUMENTARY! It is chilling and will inform you rather well on who they are and what they’re all about. Some graphic language and war violence. It is not an endorsement of the weather underground.

Weather Underground was too violent for Kerry and split out of his group. They were not noticed when terrorists were cool.

I enjoyed that documentary, if anything it made me realize(along with the movie, Helter Skelter) just how nihilistic and how bloodthirsty the terrorists of the Left were. It was a good documentary on the logic and the seedy side of the idealistic Left as they bombed things and were planning to bomb the Fort Dix dance because they wanted to “bring the war home”. What helped to contribute to the nihilism was the focus that the Underground wanted a Third World Revolution in the USA to make it like the Third World countries at the time who were undergoing dramatic political changes. It also gave a lot of info on Ayers, Dorn and the militant outbreak from SDS. I would watch it as it didn’t seem to be fully slanted.

Hannity is devoting the entire hour toward an investigation into all of the radicals and terrorist individuals and organizations that Obama associates with or is financially and politically supported by.
