Issues, not race, hurt Obama in Kentucky (What the Polls Don't Say)
Herald Leader ^ | 6 October 2008 | Leland Conway

Posted on 10/06/2008 4:09:07 PM PDT by Terrence DoGood

Mainstream pundits and well-known liberal Kentucky columnists are again accusing our state of racism in the presidential election.

Their evidence: Barack Obama trails John McCain by 18 percent in the polls. That's it. That's all they've got. Obama trails in the polls, so we must all be racists.

Those who make this dangerous assertion are using the wide gap in the state polls as their premise. If you have ever been accused of racism, you know how horrible an accusation it is. It's a game-ending political chess move. Those who can be successfully branded with this image can have their entire careers ruined.

Racism is a terrible and insideous thing and just the insinuation can be devastating.

Only one answer! OSSBAMA must trail McCAIN by more than 20 !

The columnists should be sued for defamation

Just spent a week in Kentucky this summer—never been there.

Beautiful place. I saw Lexington, horses, bourbon, Shakers, and a small Civil War battlefield.

I know some of those Kentucky voters well. Like many in Appalachia, it’s not about race. It’s about trust and “sizing up” someone. Kentuckians don’t trust Obama and don’t believe anything that comes out of his mouth. That’s it in a nutshell.

Those who are racist aren’t going to care about being called such. Those of us who are not, are going to get mad.
Let them keep on talking.

I hope the Onada crowd keeps calling white Kentucyans racists. It just might drive more of them to vote. The only one talking about race is the Marxist, Onada.

If I may be so bold as to make a suggestion—whenever Obama’s name or akas are used they should be prefaced with “Marxist”. That’s what he is. There should be no doubt about it.

A lifelong Kentuckian here, born and raised. Many of us absolutely do not trust Barack Hussein Obama. It doesn’t matter if he is black, white, purple, orange, blue, etc. he stands for everything this country has fought against for many years. Down with Obama!

I guess the (Liberal) Lexington Herald MISLeader, proably feels they've failed....thety couldn't make it a racial issue.

WE look @ the issues / not the race.

Glad you liked what you saw. I moved here from Orlando two years ago, and am glad I did. Lexington is prettiest in early April, when trees and bushes are in bloom everywhere. That’s when I first saw the city, and I got the impression that the city had put on its best outfit to welcome me.

Don’t you remember? We are bitter, and cling to our guns and religion. I know some people who have never voted Republican who are going to do so this year. It’s not racism, it’s conservatism.
