Ohio Democrats turned their annual dinner into a revival last night, preaching the failures of Republican-controlled governments in Columbus and Washington and promising a better future if voters give them a chance.
Rallied by Sen. Barack Obama , of Illinois, who in his first term has gained rock-star status in the party, and Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr., of Delaware, a 2008 presidential candidate, the long down-and-out state party oozed with optimism about its November election prospects.

U.S. Rep. Sherrod Brown, challenging Republican Sen. Mike DeWine, said, "You know something is going on in Ohio when two superstars like Joe Biden and Barack Obama come to Columbus on the same night."

"If Democrats can't be successful in this environment, we've got big problems," Obama said..
Biden said Democrats nationally "are excited about Ohio this year," contending it is "absolutely critical" for the party to win back one of the two houses of Congress to stop "bad things from happening" during President Bush's remaining 2 1/2 years.
One after another, members of the Democratic Party statewide ticket railed against the GOP's "culture of corruption." State Sen. Marc Dann, the party's nominee for attorney general, called his opponent, Betty D. Montgomery, and the GOP gubernatorial nominee, J. Kenneth Blackwell, "corrupt ... and we have had enough."

Obama , in a press conference, warned that Democrats can't win without positing a positive agenda.

The presence of Obama , 44, and Biden, 63, kindled chatter about the 2008 presidential race. Obama , just 18 months into his Senate term, has drawn growing interest from party activists, but he declined yesterday to handicap his chances of running.
"I'm flattered with the talk" he said. "It indicates that some of the things I'm saying resonate with folks out in the neighborhoods and communities."
Asked if he has enough experience to be president, Obama replied, "Nobody has enough experience to be president. People show up for the presidency, look around and say, 'This is a big country.' I am very humble in terms of what I know and what I don't know and there are a whole bunch of things I don't know."

Sometimes articles are interesting just because they are interesting.
2 years ago Obama knew that Ohio would be a key state. Helping the OH dems helped Barack become familiar with the landscape and who they could count on to cheat the system.
Even as dumb as the man is, I'm hoping Obama caught on to the "Ohio is a key state" thing back during the 2004 campaign.
I thought Biden was staying at his MILs’ side as she was very ill. Guess his priorities got screwed up a little.

Of course you are right. He was making contacts in 2006 to find out which felons he could rely on.

How about Obama openly campaigning for his communist cousin Odinga who signed a pact with Muslims to enact Sharia Law if elected and started riots when he lost. Obama campaigned for an openly Anti-American candidate in a foreign country in 2006 at taxpayer expense.
