U.S. Rep. Barney Frank claims conservatives are trying to partly blame the nation’s economic woes on black people.
“This is an effort I believe to appeal to a kind of anger in people,” Frank, a Newton Democrat who chairs the House Financial Services Committee, today told a Boston foreclosure-prevention forum.
Frank charged that conservatives aim to shift blame for the market meltdown away from Wall Street and toward minority-lending laws like the federal Community Reinvestment Act.

WRONG! The CRA and Fredie Mae and Fredie Mac were all the problem. You do not understand what CRA is and what it did. Don't drink the liberal kool aid that it was not the problem. It was.

Cheap credit was part of the problem with bad business loans—but not subprime loans. Banks don't lend to people who don't have good credit and the financial means to pay the debt back. That is banking 101. The reason banks made the subprime loans is because of the Community Reinvestment Act and Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The CRA put pressure on banks to make subprime loans or face lawsuits for redlining and face bad reports from bank regulators. Freddie Mae and Freddie Mac created a market for the bad loans by buying them up. In short, you have to ask why bankers would loan to poor people when they cannot pay the loan back, which is financial disaster for a bank. The reason is liberal democrat policies under the CRA and Freddie Mae and Freddie Mac.
