WASHINGTON (AP) John McCain is once again trying to dress the political wound that never heals: his role in a 1980s banking scandal that is featured in a new Barack Obama attack video.
McCain's campaign quickly moved to limit any damage from Obama dredging up the Keating Five scandal of nearly two decades ago.

Nobody under the age of about 50 recalls much about the Keating Five. I’m over 50 and I still don’t recall much about it. It’s a complicated issue to explain and I doubt Obama wants to spend much time trying to explain it as it would lead eventually to the fact that McCain was exonerated of all wrong doing.
Excellent profile btw...you go girl ^5
Credibility is always an issue!
Attack!
Rollins today said attacks wouldn’t work- but I agree with those above who’ve said, that the Obama camp seems rattled. Even wt Hillary, Obama always remained cool. But, this looks like it hit a nerve. Regarding Keating, McCain should ask that the same crutiny he got in that issue, now be given to the Ayers issue.
Hey McCain, ask Hussein the Muslim candidate to produce his birth certificate and if he is not willing to do so ask him why not?
Marxist Obama, however, has yet to be investigated by the Senate for his association with known terrorists.
Obama is either a friendless, sicko loner or he has close friends who hate America.
Either way, he has a past that AP could check on (if it wanted to).
.
The AP is rooting for Obama so much they can’t possibly report a story properly. If God himself said he was for McCain the AP would twist that as something bad.
Right. If Keating 5 is important, Rezko is all the more so. Rezko also places Obama right in the middle of the Chicago machine.
The thing about McCain and Keating is not that he was involved in the case, but that he learned from it and actually changed the way he does his job as a Senator and a public servant.
On the other hand, Obama has never admitted making a mistake in his life, and has never done anything in his life that gives any indication that he has learned any lessons from any mistakes.
Having said that, McCain was included in Keating because the Dims didn’t have any guilty Republicans to include. So, they made his minor error in judgment (agreeing to attend one meeting that included a regulator) into a great big deal.
They would never protect Palin or McCain. The attack must be working.
McCain and Palin should continue to fire off the commentary about the terrorists, terrorist sympathizers and Chicago crooks that populate Obama's inner circle of fans and fundraisers. It energizes their base at the same time educating the clueless voters.
So.....if McCain and Palin won’t unleash those heat-seeking missiles they have at Comrade Barack, Our Beloved Leader won’t throw that spitwad he’s holding at McCain/Palin.
.
If the media would do its job, Sarah wouldn’t have to. People should have a chance to know who Obama really is.
Isn’t it amazing how Obama is connected to like every left wing nut and organization in the US? I mean Farrakhan, for example. When was the last time a presidential candidate ran in the same close circle as ol’ Louis? Egads! Farrakhan lives in his friggin’ neighborhood.
Here’s an idea for an ad: “Mr. Obama’s Neighborhood”...
AP: Palin character attack on Obama may hurt McCain
Only if you repeat it 453 more times Associated Press.
I don't think going negative will hurt him. However, the exposure of the terrorist/antiAmerican connection of the Obamoids should have begun a lot sooner. It would have made a great counterpoint following the series of ridicule ads about the 'rat's "Celebrity", and laid a base for exposing the malfeasant Obama creature's mendacity and culpablity in the Fannie/Freddy fiasco.
I fear now it will be too little too late as these things need time to sink in. Hope I'm wrong.
“Not a chance McCain was all but exonerated.”
I heard a reporter today say that though McCain was cleared of all charges, he was scolded for bad judgement, or something like that. I’m certain McCain is the only Senator in history ever to use bad judgment.
By the way, if I was ever in front of one of those Congressional dog-and-pony shows, and someone scolded me without charging me with a crime, I think I’d leap over the table and punch him in the face. That’s just me; I like to settle disputes the old fashioned way, not through propaganda.
If your gonna go down, ya might as well go down swinging.
Yes the ap is really concerned about John McCain hmmmm
It's not that Obama isn't being asked, it's that he's not pressed into answers.
Obama keeps circling around the tough questions and the public doesn't knows a damn thing about him.
He can't answer at this point. IMO
