Remember, this IS the pop-culture left speaking. For a long time this WAS steering the politicics of popular culture. Until he flipped his lid, he was doing a lot of mainstream TV comedy writing. If he were still useful today, he'd be writing for the Colbert Report, and the guys who replace him there today are politically identical.

“Bless your heart, sir, my son is over in Eye-Rack, fighting for your right to protest.”
I wouldn’t have said this. The heckler has no right to interrupt another speaker, thereby denying her right of free speech. I would have said something like, “Bite my ass, you lying babboon. My son is in Eye-Rack fighting your friends and trying to make sure they don’t take over another country completely.”
(Probably one reason I am not running for VP. Being ineligible is another one.)

I was surprised to hear Palin say this. It is very commom in the south...
The old joke is, you know when a Southern Bell is going to say something bad about a person, she will start the sentence with “Bless their heart,BUT...”

Yeah, I guess you’re right - except that it probably should be labeled as a vanity, so people won’t expect the link to really jibe with the headline and be some op-ed piece found at the link.

There’s porn out there too. I don’t visit those sites for the same reason I don’t care to visit this type of garbage.
There was nothing on this page to warrant a Freeper reading it... nothing.

Yes, yes. I agree completely that any and all vanities be clearly labeled “Vanity”.
They are so vain. I bet they think this site is about them.

For the record: Barry is a recognized pundit, who has been posted in the Boston Globe and elsewhere. If you ask him, he’ll tell you that the reason he is not published regularly any more is by his own choice and his alone.

That's nice, but I don't know why you felt compelled to tell ME. Perhaps you misinterpreted my earlier post?
To: presidio9
I've dealt with the intellectually bereft assertion that there is a direct relation between domestic freedom and this country's militant imperialism many times so please consider this a brief general election refresher tirade. The robotic sloganeer thinks it's important.

There's something doubly evil about a self-avowed Christian who prefaces almost every uncharitable remark she makes with a disingenuous "Bless your heart!" The phrase serves two purposes - it extends the will to bestow God's blessings upon the recipient of that phrase, and if the recipient is a raving, brain-dead liberal lunatic, it also serves to provoke an incoherent, vicious response. Like this article.
So Bless your Heart, there Barry.

That's nice, but I don't know why you felt compelled to tell ME. Perhaps you misinterpreted my earlier post?? To be honest, I never thought of you personally. I the future, I promise to always keep you in mind when I am considering if something is or is not postworthy. In return, I'm informing you that I will no longer be needing any future posts from you voicing you approval or disapproval of something that I may have posted. I'm already looking out for you. Is it a deal?

In any case, there was nothing “uncharitable” with what followed anyway. So what’s the big deal?

Whos barry crimmins and why does he get his own thread on FR? He is considered the founder of the Boston school and Godfather of the 1980's class of stand-up-comics. He influenced and guided comics such as Steven Wright, Paula Poundstone, Bobcat Goldthwait, Kevin Meaney, Jimmy Tingle to fame if you can call it that.
