Sorry Michelle, you’re wrong about this one.

Sure it’s a terrible idea. But it’s great strategy. McCain has to persuade the moderate Dems, women, and independents who will decide this election.

Those voters aren’t anchored down by ideology like the the respective left and right. It’s a good strategy that will sell to the squishy middle.

Yeah, sure. This “moderate” strategy has been doing wonders for his polls the last few weeks, hasn’t it?

McCain’s bounces ONLY have come when he appoints a conservative (palin) to run with him or he says something conservative (such as at Warren’s debate). None of this moderate shtick has helped him one bit and it’s not going to start now.

Then again some of us already went down this road with Bush, so excuse our resistence to travel that road to nowhere again. We heard the same arguments now being made for McCain and all we got in the end was screwed. And I was one of those Bush supporters at the time.

I’m not doing it again. Certainly not for McCain. I’m not going to tell someone not to vote for McCain, but when he goes down this road I’m not providing cover for him either.
