Poll results: The American people and Barack Obama agree on nothing

Americans and Obama disagree not just some of the time, not just half of the time, but—apparently—all of the time.

Earlier today, I was exhorted to take the Barack Obama Test. I was told that this test has enjoyed tremendous traffic, that it has gotten great response (as well as some hate response), and that it has changed many minds.

Excited to know these details, I went to take the test myself. I expected to find a series of question that one answers, followed by an effective statement regarding the degree to which Barack Obama dis/agrees with one's beliefs and positions.

The test and its results were all that, and not surprisingly, Obama and I are in accord exactly 0% of the time. That's right, the potential next president of the United States and I disagree on 100% of the issues listed in this test, from taxes to energy, foreign policy to justice, social issues to the 2nd Amendment.

This is an effective tool on its own; when an independent voter finds out that s/he and Obama disagree 60, 70, 80, even 90% of the time, it's going to give that voter pause.

But that is not the true brilliance of this test!

Below the place where it tells us the degree to which we do or do not agree with Obama is something I did not expect, something far more striking.

It lists all of the questions, this time showing Barack Obama's position in comparison to the preferences of the American people as a whole. Various different polls are used to show where the American people stand on each of these issues, and that is shown in comparison to where Barack Obama stands. And get this . . .

Out of the 48 questions, a majority or plurality of Americans disagree with Barack Obama on all 48!

In one spot—on Obama's health care plan—if you separate out just the 30% of Americans who pay no taxes at all, just that cohort agrees with Obama . . . and even then, only by 1%, well inside the margin of error.

The profundity of this situation can hardly be overstated.

Americans are in such a foul mood—exactly where the left's eight-year-long permatantrum™ was designed to put them—that they are willing to elect a leader with whom they DISAGREE 100% of the time. They are convinced that "change" is what is needed, and since Barack Obama represents some form of change, many of them need look no further.

Maybe we need some change here and there. But picking someone with whom we, as a people in aggregate, disagree 100% of the time? That, it seems to me, occupies the misty twilight regions somewhere between ignorance and madness.

Permatantrum. I concur. A lot of Obama’s supporters are there because they hate Republicans. It doesn’t matter if he lies, or has a radical past, or is a hardcore liberal, because it is him versus a Republican. And they hate Republicans, so they have no choice.

I still think McCain and Palin can pull this out.

I’d love to hear Rush get a hold of this today.

:-) I wonder how McCain would score?

So? After Obama wins and destroys the economy, the voters will wail, “Oh! How could The One be so mean to me?!” It will be too late. Tough on them. I DO believe that, if elected, Obama will not serve his term before being impeached after the Repubs take back Congress in 2010.

Bingo!! That is true. My brother told me last night even if I brought proof about obama, he would still vote for him. Even if it means socialism.

I disagree with Obama 100% of the time. I took the test even though I didn’t need to, to know I disagree with him 100% of the time.

It’s always puzzelled me that way more Americans describe themselves as conservative rather than liberal, yet more are supposedly democrats. Can’t make sense of it

No no no. The only reason not to vote for Obama is because he’s apparently BLACK!!!

Didn’t you guys get the memo?

I took the test and after the results came up. I started reading the red highlighted thinking they were mine. At first, I was thinking I did not read the questions very good...and then after four or five of them, I saw an answer I definitely did not put and thought was is up with this...I finally saw they put the answers at the bottom left. Ugh! Happily I did not agree with him at all. The destressing thing was that only 10 percent of Americans are truly pro-life and don’t mind having abortions depending on why the girl got pregnant..True pro-lifers do not accept any reason AT ALL for an abortion. Sad that Americans are so liberal.

That test contains several “some say” weasel phrases.

I got 90% disagreement, though I’d like to know when or where Obama said that “material concerns” “should be more important to Americans in their daily life” than “moral values.”

A few results were disappointing even though more people agreed with my position than opposed. I was surprised and disappointed that so many people agreed with Obama that sales of handguns should be prohibited, and that so many also agreed with him that taxes on guns and ammunition should be increased by 500%. The abortion questions answers were also disappointing even though a small majority agreed with me. I would also have thought that a larger majority would support a same sex marriage amendment.

But I scored a 48 out of 48 opposed to Obama, so I know that 100% of my positions are correct since there's no question that 100% of his are wrong.

yeah it was me and I don’t know why. The mod said that this discussion should be discussed on a active thread.

I am a bit confused consider the subject matter I pick was very very important. And some of the vanity threads are very redundant but my was very thought provocing.

Maybe they don’t want this matter discussed for fear of reprisals or something.
