Chicago New Party Update [1995]
by Bruce Bentley
About 50 activists attended the Chicago New Party membership meeting in July. The purpose of the meeting was to update members on local activities and to hear appeals for NP support from four potential political candidates. The NP is being very active in organization building and politics. There are 300 members in Chicago. In order to build an organizational and financial base the NP is sponsoring house parties. Locally it has been successful both fiscally and in building a grassroots base. Nationwide it has resulted in 1000 people committed to monthly contributions. The NP's political strategy is to support progressive candidates in elections only if they have a concrete chance to "win". This has resulted in a winning ratio of 77 of 110 elections. Candidates must be approved via a NP political committee. Once approved, candidates must sign a contract with the NP. The contract mandates that they must have a visible and active relationship with the NP.
The political entourage included Alderman Michael Chandler, William Delgado, chief of staff for State Rep Miguel del Valle, and spokespersons for State Sen. Alice Palmer, Sonya Sanchez, chief of staff for State Sen. Jesse Garcia, who is running for State Rep in Garcia's District; and Barack Obama, chief of staff for State Sen. Alice Palmer. Obama is running for Palmer's vacant seat.
Personally I think the rest of the days left until the election should be filled with the theme “CHANGE”....We already have congress moving towards socialism....this is the change Obama favors. America are you ready for Change? For the failed policies of the past socialists? Are you ready to be the Union of America Socialist Republic? Are you ready for socialism? Change—are you ready for the banks to be owned by the government...insurance owned by the government...your own home owned by the government...that’s the direction the democrats are taking...are you ready for that change? Change...Senator Obama you can keep the change.
Does that include polls?
Connecting him to socialism is one thing, but now McCain/Palin have to explain to those who didn’t already realize Obama’s a socialist (that would be young voters) why what McCain/Palin is selling is superior to socialism.
I wonder if they can do that.
Now what was that about Todd Palin belonging to a radical party?
“Obama a Socialist... Who would have thunk it...”
I would find it harder to believe that he is a capitalist.
The only thing that worries me about holding back is the early voting. Those people are no longer reachable if something his in the last few days.
bump
To those interested in health care, McCain and Palin might point out how terrible health care is in Socialist countries. Many in Canada are coming to the U.S. for urgent procedures because the waiting lists are so long at home...months.
Semi-retirement after the election, special projects etc etc. Too bad, one of the very best out there, decent people need him around.
No way No bama is gonna win. He will Never be the president of these united states. He can wish and lie and cheat but GOOD WILL PREVAIL. Bigfoot will not be 1st lady, cause she ain’t one.
Yeah, but who are the early voters? Not the undecideds or swing voters. Usually it’s the people who are 100 percent certain who they are voting for.
Thanks for digging that out for me.
I suppose Axelrod will say that it’s trash; just because the New Party claims that Bambi was present at the meeting doesn’t mean he was there.
McCain should read this out loud on the campaign trail with the cameras rolling.
I can’t believe the Clintons are sitting back and allowing this guy to win this election. Come on, Clintons! Stop this guy! We know you got it in ya’!
I heard he’s retiring.
Good point. Here's ammo.
Which is why the internet, as we know it, will be one of Obama's targets if elected.
