ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) -- Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin abused her power as Alaska's governor in the firing of her former public safety commissioner, but violated no laws, a report for the state Legislature concluded Friday.
Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan's refusal to fire Palin's ex-brother-in-law from the state police force was "likely a contributing factor" to Monegan's July dismissal, but Palin had the authority as governor to sack him, the report by former Anchorage prosecutor Stephen Branchflower states.

All because there are democrats. Frankly, if the only way to get a dangerous trooper off the street is to abuse power and fire the prick, abuse power and ‘git er dun’.
Given the info available to the public I’d have done the same thing!
Yet the NY Times says, A legislative committee investigating Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska, the Republican vice presidential candidate, issued a report Friday night that found she unlawfully abused her authority by firing the state’s public safety commissioner.
And the AP says, A legislative committee investigating Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has found she unlawfully abused her authority in firing the state's public safety commissioner.
How can something be unlawful if it violates no laws? Are these reporters for real?
Facts were not allowed to play a big role in this investigation, so they will not be allowed to play any role in the analysis.
You guys need to write to these media outlets. SARAH did NOT break the law. Anybody can see that if they can read the actual report! I find it pathetic that they are more worried about TrooperGate than Obama’s past!

But she didn't break any laws in firing her public safety commissioner, who said he had been pressured to fire the trooper, the report found.
The inquiry, approved by a legislative committee's bipartisan vote, began The report by investigator Stephen Branchflower was released late today in Anchorage by the state legislative panel that commissioned it. The bi-partisan panel voted 12-0 to release the findings to the public. Legislators said they would have to consider later what, if anything, to do now.

“I did what I needed to do. THe trooper was a threat to my family and the public and I wanted him removed. The other guy was willfully ignoring my orders on the budget.
This “report” was written by a biased operative of the Obama campaign” I wear it like a badge of honor”

It would seem to me to be dereliction of duty if a Governor of a state didn't try to remove a State Trooper who had conducted himself in such a manner!

Who benefitted personally or financially from the firing of the Commissioner of Safety? Other than the State of Alaska? Isn’t a Governor supposed to make these calls? There’s a logical disconnect here. The Palin family might have benefitted by the firing of the State Trooper. But what’s at issue is the firing of the Commissioner of Safety. Again, who benefitted personally by this action?
The committee is confusing two separate issues here.
I don’t watch the other channels so I don’t know about them but FOX is still splitting time between this ACORN and the Economy.
Nothing further can be done with this right now (if ever at all). I actually think it will go away after the MSM realizes it’s better for Obama if they continue to convince people we need to stock up on canned food and shotguns.

The firing offense was about a lobbying trip to Washington DC the man planned in direct contravention to the Gov.'s wishes. She stopped or vetoed an expenditure dear to his heart, so he decided to get the money elsewhere by going around or over her--seems to me that is an abuse of office and a firing offense.--Heck, I think the troopergate was a firing offense to keep a dangerous abuser from having the power of being a trooper..
Also read in that same article that Branchflower(?) and the fired director were cronies from way back. Others i the legislature also had a bone to pick because Palin had done away with some pet projects in order to balance the budget.
