Tony Rezko used Alexi Giannoulias bank to float $450,000 in bad checks, while campaigning for Alexi’s brother Demetris to be placed on the Illinois Finance Authority Board.
Demetris Giannoulias was on the Board at the Crossroads Fund, a Chicago Based left wing organzation supported by Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn and Barack Obama, which made grants to such stellar organizations as ACORN and other affordable housing swindlers.
In 2002, Rezko borrowed $10.5 Million from Broadway Bank, the Giannoulias family bank, the same bank where Barack Obama kept his Senate campaign funds. In 2006, Sen. Obama endorsed Alexi Giannoulias for Illinois State Treasurer, and gives Sec. Giannoulias a slot to speak at the Democratic National Convention.
Glad to see all these upstanding folks able to work so well together, too bad that Rezko doesn’t want to serve time, and holds quite a bit of information about the Chicago Political Establishment that may be interesting to the Feds.

“Clout lists” that tracked politically backed job seekers to Gov. Blagojevich’s administration have surfaced in the case of indicted businessman Tony Rezko, with Rezko’s lawyers arguing the documents shouldn’t be allowed as evidence in his upcoming corruption trial.
The lists, which total 26 pages, offer yet another glimpse into the administration’s hiring practices shortly after the governor took office in 2003. They include dozens of recommendations made by Rezko, other Blagojevich fund-raisers, members of the General Assembly and lobbyists for full-time jobs and seats on unpaid state boards and commissions.
The lists also use some of the same political-sponsorship codes as a separate clout list the Chicago Sun-Times disclosed in May 2006. Rezko, for example, is identified as “TR.” Another top Blagojevich fund-raiser, Christopher G. Kelly, is “CK.”
One of the lists, Rezko’s lawyers said, is a spreadsheet of “recommended candidates” for state jobs “made by or through Rezko” to Blagojevich’s Office of Intergovernmental Affairs. That list includes 39 recommendations, including one for Joseph Aramanda, a Glenview businessman whom sources have identified as the unnamed “Individual D” in prosecutors’ case against Rezko. Aramanda allegedly was part of a kickback scheme involving Rezko and co-defendant Stuart Levine, who has pleaded guilty and is to testify in Rezko’s trial.

Rezko also pushed for the appointment of Chicago banker Demetris Giannoulias, brother of Democratic state Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias, to the Illinois Finance Authority board, records show.
Other Rezko-backed candidates on the lists of potential state job applicants or of those seeking state board appointments included Jabir Herbert Muhammad, a Rezko business associate who City of Chicago officials say headed a minority-front company that enabled Rezko to open three Panda Express restaurants at O’Hare Airport.

The Associated Press reported September 22, 2008, that Obama has already raised $17.5 million from donors in the Chicago metro area. Tonight he returns to dig deeper into contributors’ pockets.
The first Chicago event, with minimum admission of $1,500, will be held at The Standard Club. The second fundraiser, at a downtown restaurant, is being hosted by Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias (jeh-NOO’-lee-ehs) and has a $28,500 admission price.

In 2006, when Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias was running for office, his good friend Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) not only vouched for him but also appeared in a campaign commercial in support of his campaign.
When Giannoulias visited Chicago’s SouthtownStar editorial board last week, he said that he had “met several times” with convicted political fixer Antoin “Tony” Rezko as a “banking customer,” Kristen McQueary reported June 15, 2008.

Madison County Democrats announce plans for dinner honoring JFK
The Madison County Democrats have announced their plans for the 44th annual John F. Kennedy Dinner on Oct. 24 at the Gateway Center in Collinsville.
Alexi Giannoulias, Illinois State Treasurer, will be the keynote speaker.
County Democratic Party Chairman Matt Melucci will serve as master of ceremonies.
Registration and cocktail reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. with dinner served at 7 p.m.
The Madison County Democratic Party gathers every year to remember President John F. Kennedy. The dinner is Madison County Democratic Party’s major fundraiser.
The cost to attend is $75 per person. Table sponsorships are available for $600, which includes seating for eight.

Rezko allegedly accumulated $450,000 in debts to Caesars Palace and Bally’s Hotel Casino between March and July 2006. He passed nine bad checks and got hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash or gaming chips in return, Roger said. The bad checks, written on Rezko’s Broadway Bank account, were for amounts ranging from $15,000 to $120,000. Bellagio LLC won a civil judgment against Rezko for failing to repay $331,000 in gambling markers.
I believe you are correct. Nixon, you may recall, was an "unindicted co-conspirator" in Watergate. If such a tag were put on Obama after he assumed the Presidency, it would require impeachment by the House and conviction by the Senate to remove him from office. With both houses controlled by the Dems, I don't think it is likely that would happen. And even if it did, it would be "welcome President Biden."
That said he wouldn’t be President until Jan 20, 2009. I assume a president-elect would have no Constitutional protection, but I doubt he could be tried after 1/20/09 regardless of when the indictment came.
