Regarding the true socialist vs. watered-down conservative thing:
1. In any conflict between two men who hold the same basic principles, it is the more consistent one who wins.
2. In any collaboration between two men who hold different basic principles, it is the more evil or irrational one who wins.
3. When opposite basic principles are clearly and openly defined, it works to the advantage of the rational side; when they are not clearly defined, but are hidden or evaded, it works to the advantage of the irrational side.
— Ayn Rand discussing “The Anatomy of Compromise”
#1 is what happens when GOP Congressmen fall all over themselves to “me-too” the Democrats, celebrate “bipartisanship”, act as if success is something that should be capped and apologized for, etc.
#2 is what happens when the Left uses constant doublespeak to hide their true intent (”common sense”, “assault” weapons, tax cuts for the “rich”, etc).
#3 is what Obama lives by.
Against a less than enthused Conservative vote (especially Chrisians)? Not a bit.
Many here would rather lose control of our Government completely, just to see what it feels like apparently. I guess they prefer bitching about losing more than actually winning. I don’t even bother responding to them anymore.
I think choosing Sarah Palin for VP is the opportunity to prove conservatism wins. Even if he didn't appreciate it then, McCain must be realizing it now based on the enthusiasm and energy she's bringing to the ticket.
Last night I dreamed that John McCain reached up to the top of his head, pulled down on a heretofore unnoticed zipper, and Bob Dole stepped out.
I absolutely think it matters. My comments were regarding Polls (which only matter to those who are influenced by the drone of gloom & doom). PUMAs can also effect that perception.
Speaking of smart, my second grader does better math than that...
This is the battle we’ve been waiting for - but rather than leading, have we been waiting for a leader to command us? Rather than fighting, have we been waiting for a fighter to fight our battles for us?
Is this what we have come to? A pathetic, useless pack of whiners, sullenly waiting for a king we want to be handed to us? Or are we our own leaders, worthy of determining our own fate?
We are our own masters. We rule ourselves, we fight our own battles, and only we are capable of being the leader of the free people - ourselves.
We do not need a perfect “leader” to support to do our job for us - we are our own leaders. Either we rise to the occasion and defend ourselves, or we will surrender to slavery at the hands of the elite...
SIC SEMPER TYRANNIS
Now the sleeping eyes awaken;
Startled by the brutish boot
as the Caesar steps, ascending
on the tongues of critics mute -
Thus the lash of tyrants ever
starts so soft, of falsehoods made
‘til the whip with brazen boldness
on the back of truth is laid
Other hands may meekly tremble
other eyes may turn their sight
God help me to face the foe -
I’ll not go down without a fight.
Heart unfettered, lift the banner!
Liberty lives in the Light
Freedom dies when darkness wins;
I’ll not go down without a fight -
Let me grasp the lash with laughter
let my spirit mock the night
Thus to tyrants always, sing -
I’ll not go down without a fight!
Thank you PUMA’s for your support. We absolutely LOVE this country and would hate to deliver it to the America-hating Barack/Ayres/Wright axis. The MSM have been able to demoralize a vast wing of the Republican party through fraudulent Democrat overweight polls over the past few days. McCain is actually within striking distance. Let’s work harder for heaven’s sake. The creeping socialism/marxism has to be stopped. We have all seen how social engineering (forcing banks to lend money to people who can’t repay the loan) destroys the intended recipients and the economy. I hope PUMA’s see how no matter how well intentioned government interference is, it always is counter-productive (this will be helpful to remember when we get back to arguing over universal healthcare). In the meantime, I hope you PUMA’s are eventually able to wrest control of the Democrat party back from the extremists, for all of our sakes.
Nope. That's a great quote.
I recommend a good California Cabernet before bedtime. :o)
you are getting flack for voting for a conservative.. on a conservative forum. what has happened to FR?
Will Joan of Arc do?
Agreed!
I know that this is anecdotal, but I was AT the DNC, every day and night as a part of the media, wearing headphones. There were only a few short times that I could not hear my producer’s voice, due to wild cheers - and Obama wasn’t a part of any of those times. The HRC crowd is strong and I attest there is/was NO unified chill of electricity in the air!
Every night, including at the Mile High Acropolis, it was like the Dems had just ‘’good sex’’ then figuratively rolled over, lit a cigarette, and dozed off. THERE WAS NO ELECTICITY OR EXHUBERANCE ON ANY OF THOSE NIGHTS AS WE ALL WALKED OUT OF THOSE VENUES! The crowds were like drugged, tepid (but polite) zombies as they filed out of those stadiums. A stranger outside might have thought folks were exiting an insurance seminar - certainly NOT a Ba-rock Concert!
Ya know, I pray for big snows on Nov 4, because most of these folks don’t have SUVs and I don’t see the enthusiasm of said crowd getting out to vote for either ticket.
However, the PUMAs must have since been re-energized by anger, (probably some hate), and/or revenge.... so let the polls say what polls are saying. Mullify the zombies and lull them gently...
‘’SPARTANS!!!’’
Republicanism run amok. Not to worry. As a 1%er, I am used to it. This is nothing compared to the wailing and gnashing of teeth that will come when McCain't loses- and all of that fury, as always, will be laid at the door of the Conservatives. *shrugs* You'd think they'd learn :D
Sometimes I think John McCain acts like he is stuck in the mud and we, along with some PUMA help will have to get behind him and push him over the finish line to victory. Sarah Palin is out there hitting Obama hard and I bet she wants to take Sen. McCain by the collar and just shake him! Failure IS NOT an option! Failure gives us all Obama!
