Amid partisan wrangling over legislative solutions to the economic crisis, there was a rare moment of unanimity on Capitol Hill recently concerning the need to alleviate a much different, but equally serious, crisis.
Passed overwhelmingly by both houses of Congress in late September and signed into law by President Bush on October 10, the Prenatally and Postnatally Diagnosed Conditions Awareness Act provides expectant mothers whose unborn children receive a diagnosis of Down Syndrome or other genetic condition with up-to-date information about the nature of the condition and connection with support services. Co-sponsored by Senators Sam Brownback (R., Kan.) and Edward Kennedy (D., Mass.), the legislation also provides for the creation of a national registry of families willing to adopt children with pre- or post-natally diagnosed conditions.
This much-needed legislation has emerged at an auspicious time in October, which is National Down Syndrome Awareness Month, and as Sarah Palins political ascendance has focused the nations attention on her youngest son, Trig, who has Down Syndrome. The new law also comes amid an epidemic of Down Syndrome abortions.

Abortion is the modern day equivalent of ancient Israel’s sin of sacrificing their children to the Canaanite god Molech..........
God Bless Sarah Palin and her role in history.
That is why the leftist women hate her so bad.... many of them have had abortions and they hate seeing her remind them of killing their unborn.
Sarah is a hero!
No offense to doctors, but they’re not always right. They can say that a baby will have Down’s Syndrome or other problems, but then the baby is born perfectly healthy!
Here’s an example. Before my brother was born, the doctors told my parents that he would have spina bifida and that they should consider “alternatives” (aka abortion). My brother was born and he was 100% healthy!!!!! Praise God!
It is shameful and downright disgraceful that America has aborted so many precious children. 50.5 million+ is 50.5+ million too many!!!!!!!
So true. Have seen firsthand the permanent regret and pain of older lonely women who remember their decision each and every time they see a child, or, see their empty house....and HATE women like Palin.
I don’t often agree with Senator Kennedy, but with this, he’s on the side of the angels.
The doctors were most certainly wrong when they told my sister-in-law that her daughter would have Down Syndrome. How many children’s lives have been ended as a result of false positives? It’s heart-breaking to even think about it.
My sister was told that there was a 50/50 chance her daughter would be born with Down's Syndrome, and her son had an 80% chance of being born with it. Both of her children are fine, thank the Lord.
I, too, wonder how many perfectly healthy, normal babies have received a death sentence because the doctors thought there might be a problem...
Yes, even back then a Baal-out was a bad thing!...............
There will come a time of judgment for our nation and its citizens.
