On Oct. 5, a retirement party was held at the New
Waverly Public Library.
More than 60 people attended to celebrate the life
and work of the honoree.
After eight years, most of his life, in service, he
was finally getting to relax and eat human food.
Thats right; the retirement party was for a dog.
But anyone in attendance would say that Drummer,
the guest of honor, is far more than just a dog.
Trained as a service dog by Pennsylvania-based
non-profit organization Canine Partners for Life
(CPL), Drummer was brought to Texas in 2000 to aid
in the daily life of New Waverly resident Jimmy
Hardy, who suffers from cerebral palsy.

Canine Partners for Life is a real non profit.
Quite a contrast to Acorn, PBS, NPR and other
left wing NGOS, that feed on the government
teat.

Every good story I read about dogs—makes me glare at my cats.

Shocked after viewing his 401k. Service dog pensions are covered under section 9 of that law. It's called the 401 K-9.

We were lucky in that the weather was mild.

I hear that! we ran the generator for 9 days, no need for air conditioner though like you said mild weather made it bearable. Could’ve been a lot worse if we had the normal 90+ with the humidity...

great story
we are from the next small town south of New Waverly
i don’t know about u but IKE hit us hard in Willis
thank God we are about 100 miles north of the coast
it’ll be decades before Galveston & the Bolivar Pennisula get back to normal
I know it’s been a while since IKE but believe it or not many still don’t have utilities such as those named above
To: She hits a grand slam tonight
I'm not far from you, Livingston. We are practically next door. We just got cable service back on line so haven’t seen many reports. been listening to 740 ktrh Houston for news Rush Hannity and weather reports.
Looks like we'll have an early fall and long winter.
