Chris Collinsworth, a BYU basketball player currently on an LDS Church mission in Australia, and another missionary were attacked by three men Tuesday night in a part of Sydney known as "Little Lebanon." Collinsworth, from Provo, was treated and released at a local hospital, according to his father, Jeff Collinsworth. But the other missionary, whom Jeff Collinsworth described as "Elder Ferguson, from Montana," is still hospitalized and recovering from multiple stab wounds and lacerations. "Both elders were roughed up pretty good," Jeff Collinsworth said, having received a phone call from his son and the mission president of the Sydney North Mission, Salt Lake City's Bud Scruggs, early Wednesday morning. "They are both probably lucky to be alive."

I wonder why that part of Sydney is known as “Little Lebanon”. I guess it must be all the Lebanese Christians who live there...
Muslim neighborhoods are notoriously dangerous in Australia. I hope the LDS boys will be okay and will be praying for them.
“I wonder why that part of Sydney is known as Little Lebanon. I guess it must be all the Lebanese Christians who live there...”
I know you’re being sarcastic and yes these were almost certainly Muslims, but where I live we have a whole community of Lebanese Christians. In fact, all the Lebanese I know ARE Christians.
ROP strikes again?
I’ll bet your local Lebanese Christions don’t call their community “little Lebanon”, do they?
Guess the ROP perps didn’t like the elders’ ties....
Same here, mainly Maronite. They tend to segregate themselves with civilized people and away from some of their savage countrymen.

There are people who are surrounded by bigots
and know it is wrong, but are afraid to be vocal against it.
These people are going to pull the lever for Obama
and they are not being polled.

That area of Sydney had been the focal point of the protests/rioting after the Cromulla riots.
And how does the fact he is a collegiate b-ball player make this more or less newsworthy?
Thankfully the Aussies have come to their senses regarding immigration policy, so the recidivist immigrants of hostile religious/cultural/societal groups won’t be so easily granted visas to the country moving forward.
Never bring the Book of Mormon to a gunfight!
Hope the missionaires shake the dust of that neighborhood off their feet for a good long time. Barbarians are incapable of recognizing goodness. Parying for their quick recovery.
Maybe the Mormons should send some Danites aka “Avenging Angels” there on mission.
They could counsel the Muslims about the error of their ways.
Me too.
Little Hezbollah would be a more accurate description.
Son of Chris Collinsworth, former NFL player and now sportscaster?
Is that supposed to be humorous? Amazing. These 19-21 year old young men sacrifice two years of their lives to serve their fellow man and you make jokes about them being attacked and stabbed? What a cynical world you live in.
Too bad they can’t send Porter Rockwell..
“Ill bet your local Lebanese Christions dont call their community little Lebanon, do they?”
Not now, but I can’t say about when they first came here in the early 1900s. I do know that back then they tended to live in the same neighborhoods together and they were treated no better than — and perhaps even worse than — blacks. They were slowly accepted by the white community as a number of them became rich merchants.
“Same here, mainly Maronite. They tend to segregate themselves with civilized people and away from some of their savage countrymen.”
All the Lebanese I know are Maronite. However, when they first came to the city where I live (about 100 years ago), THEY were the ones who were abused and looked down on because they were dark foreigners with funny accents.
Oh, come on, Nicole...they aren't there to "serve their fellow man", but to convert people to the mormon church.
I'm sorry that they were injured and wish them a speedy recovery.
Has the LDS church agreed to pay all their hospital bills?
Lots of ink for the celeb Collingsworth, David Allen Ferguson of Great Falls, MO, not so much.
