Voting for Obama anyway
Politico ^ | October 15, 2008 | Ben Smith

I just got an astounding e-mail from a Republican consultant I know well. He's a guy who's always thought Obama had a "glass jaw," and was always among those agitating for hitting Obama harder.

Recently, he conducted a focus group in an upper-Midwestern state, showing them the kind of ad he thought would work: A no-holds-barred attack, cut for an independent group, which hasn't aired.

I'm just going to reprint his amazed e-mail about the focus group:

Reagan Dems and Independents. Call them blue-collar plus. Slightly more Target than Walmart.

Yes, the spot worked. Yes, they believed the charges against Obama. Yes, they actually think he's too liberal, consorts with bad people and WON'T BE A GOOD PRESIDENT...but they STILL don't give a f***. They said right out, "He won't do anything better than McCain" but they're STILL voting for Obama.

The two most unreal moments of my professional life of watching focus groups:

54 year-old white male, voted Kerry '04, Bush '00, Dole '96, hunter, NASCAR fan...hard for Obama said: "I'm gonna hate him the minute I vote for him. He's gonna be a bad president. But I won't ever vote for another god-damn Republican. I want the government to take over all of Wall Street and bankers and the car companies and Wal-Mart run this county like we used to when Reagan was President."

The next was a woman, late 50s, Democrat but strongly pro-life. Loved B. and H. Clinton, loved Bush in 2000. "Well, I don't know much about this terrorist group Barack used to be in with that Weather guy but I'm sick of paying for health insurance at work and that's why I'm supporting Barack."

I felt like I was taking crazy pills. I sat on the other side of the glass and realized...this really is the Apocalypse. The Seventh Seal is broken and its time for eight years of pure, delicious crazy....

I remember the good old days of the 1980s, when Reagan had the government take over Wall Street, banks, and car companies.

And I am sick of paying for my car, gasoline, food, clothes, computer and DVD player. I also want a free iPod and a GPS. It's good to know that Obama going to do that for me now.

If it wasn’t for foreign policy issues, I would not mind an Obama presidency to wake the people in the country up. We need a Carter every once in awhile to F... things up to remind people how bad it can be. Right now, I can’t handle this guy prosecuting a critical conflict of civilizations.

The education system of this country will have succeeded in another 10y to lower the collective intelligence of the country to the point a resounding majority will be ready for a collective.

It will be like Red Dawn, but the Wolverines will be fighting leftist Americans.

Good copy! The way he says it, I'm almost looking forward to it.

Yes, I believe this.

The problem is they look at 10 billion a month for a war, the press and Democrats point everything at Bush and they want change.

The ineffectual Republicans have not made it known to the general public that Obama and his party were the ones that just collapsed the economy and all those banks.
They blame Bush, and therefore Obama gets a nod.

We have twenty days to change this, but I do believe in some places, this is how it is.

54 year old white idiot. Reagan was so far outside of government running anything private, much less Wall Street and bankers and car companies.

We are doomed. I know I know, I am a doom and gloomer. Not because of McCain, but because of the stupidity this country is churning out.

When I asked my wife why people would vote of ASSama even knowing the slime he is she gave me a very exact answer.

She said it is like buying a used car. You can know the one being shown to you has a crappy engine, the windows are broken, the seats are torn, and it smells. But if the cup holder is in the place you always wanted it to be, you will overlook all the other stuff and buy it.

I think she is right.

I’m with you. I think that, all in all, a Zero Presidency would be painful for our country, but it would wake up Americans to the reality of the leftist agenda. No matter who wins, I’m predicting President Sarah Palin in 2012.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh! I guess it’ll be “game on” when Barak/Barack/The One/He whose middle name cannot be mentioned is anointed president for life.

Find the Movie “Idiocracy”

It is rude crude and hilarious, and shows how sorry our future is.

For a good synopsis-check Wikipedia for it

This is what I was afraid we were up against. It doesn’t matter what Mccain says, people have made up their mind to vote for this guy no matter what else happens. You can see it in those ridiculous Luntz focus groups after the debates. They always, always overwhelmingly choose Obama no matter how stupid he sounded the previous 90 minutes.

Obama is an urban thug able to unleash the forces of hell against his oppostion. Disinformation and fear today. Riots in defeat and revenge with victory. These are grim times. Everybody is scared and willing to appease this thug.
