“Why would they tell politico?”

Not so much “tell” as “confirm”.

At least for now, there are a bunch running. Obama is too. The typical McCain is running a smear campaign ones. Argh! McCain needs to have one starring Sarah listing what the admin will accomplish and what Obama would destroy.
Oh man! One just came on about the smear tactics!

“We are pulling out of 56 of the 57 states - anything less would be dishonorable.”

McCain received 84 million dollars as his own campaign money from the national election board and it has nothing to do with the Republican National Committee money.

Exactly. The big difference, as I understand it, is that the RNC can spend money to help McCain, but I don't think McCain can spend his own public finance money to help the RNC (i.e. other GOP candidates across the country). The RNC itself has $160 million to spend (as of a few days ago), and help is needed for GOP candidates all over the country. McCain can continue spending his own campaign money in WI.

Wisconsin was one of the closest states in both 2000 and 2004. McCain himself has spent a great deal of time in Wisconsin over the last few weeks. Not only is he fighting for the state, but he has an excellent chance to win it.

“Just dump it all in to FL, OH, VA, NC, NV and CO, and PA, which has a lot of bang for the buck.”

Yep...I think that’s where it’s headed.....”dump the cash”...run the ads and PRAY for the next 2 weeks.

The Wisconsin Republican Party is headed up by Rinos and Country Club Republicans......God helps those that help themselves.

$84 million for the entire fall isn't all that much if you remember that the RNC raised $66 million in September alone and much of McCain's money goes to infrastructure, travel, polling, etc. McCain has set up several different vehicles to run ads. Many ads are split down the middle by the RNC and McCain (hence all the ads attacking "Barack Obama and his friends in Congress...") but most are paid for only by the RNC or by the RNC and state Republican parties. For better or for worse, McCain has largely outsourced his political ads to the RNC.

same thing outside phila here in pa. mccain runs one ad for every 10 of obama. i have to admit, obamas ads are good. they are full of bs, i mean big bs lies, but they are having an impact on the uninformed - which is most people.

AK, I was referring to your "leave of senses" comment sounding just like the "erratic" theme from Obama's talking points. :-)

Taegan Goddard's a good site, but it's also a Dem site. Here's an AP article with more information.

RNC out of Wisconsin, Maine; focuses on red states

The gist? The RNC (read: attack ads) is pulling out of blue states and focusing on red. McCain is not leaving Wisconsin.

...[w]hile a pullout from Wisconsin is a significant strategic move, it does not represent a full GOP retreat from the state. McCain's campaign has notified Wisconsin stations that it planned to continue to buy air time through Oct. 26...

Polls in WI aren’t always right either. Most have Bush ahead there throughout the ‘04 campaign, some by large margins. I thought it was one he would pick up from 2000 but no such luck.

Good point. You and me both on thinking Dubya would swing WI.

For better or for worse, McCain has largely outsourced his political ads to the RNC.

I do not think so. He is asking the RNC for help and they are helping but not everywhere. They have to take care of people running for Congress as well.

Sort of, why is that when Obama pulls out of GA there is nary a peep, McCain pulls out of MI or WI and it’s doom and gloom?

Because Bush won Georgia by 16 points, and Wisconsin was the closest state in the country. It was always ludicrous for Obama to think he could win Georgia.

The RNC and McCain coordinate legally and RNC ads promote McCain. Since McCain’s money is limited by public financing, most of McCain’s money is actually RNC money.

It is illegal for McCain and the RNC to coordiante ads. See CFR.

you can stop your whine......go hide....go hide under the kitchen table...

if just 25% of you wimps and whiners would get off your butts and think positive and proactive instead of contantly deriding OUR candidate, well, you know the rest.....

the truth is McCain is an OKAY candidate...he will not sell out our country...he has stood up to pork barrel spending...he speaks his minds and his convictions.....he chose Sarah Palin....

and most of all......dadah.....HE IS NOT barry soetoro hussein obama...

you people forget what we are up against.....

Well I guess Minnesota is next.

If McCain's gonna give up on a state, Iowa or Minnesota will realistically come before Wisconsin.

Yep, I'm in NC and saw the 1st RNC attack ad (at least that caught my eye) last night.

It was good enough to make Mrs WBill (a conservative Dem) say "Hmmmm". Asked where 0 was going to find the Trillion Dollars he promised to spend in the last debate.

We FReepers have been asking the same question for weeks, but the masses (of which I'd count my fairly non-political wife) haven't heard a peep of it.... Good commercial, IMHO.
