They are based in Norway, but they have offices in the UK (or at least a phone number there) Furthermore, if what they are saying is true they could be a little worried because they have a lot of correspondents in African countries that could become targets.

Not sure either, but I would bet that... uhm... "non-judicial" law in Kenya under Odinga is not very pleasant.
I don’t buy the excuse by API. AFAIK, there are no international agreements requiring that countries adopt and obey eachothers’ laws regarding taped conversations. Since they claim the tape is real, they should not be afraid of any libel charges since truth is an absolute defense. The issue is the wiretapping/recording of the conversation. If there’s no wiretapping laws there, then there is no issue. This is a slam dunk, one way or another—either there is a wiretapping law or there isn’t and if there isn’t then the tape should have already been released. Unless something changes, I call BS on this entire story.
