I don’t advocate violence, but this is a textbook tactic of the reporters to Conservative events.
You can get 25,000 people out support a Conservative cause or candidate. If even one reporter shows up, they will find one of the two protesters on sight, and grant them an extensive interview. Then the report of the event goes something like this...
Extreme Right Wing Conservative Sarah Palin addressed a group of unruly people in Anytown, USA, yesterday. The crowd expressed mild courteous approval of her presentation, but the consensus was anything but unanimous.
Protesters in the crowd showing incredible courage let it be known they didn’t agree with her views at all, so much so that they were threatened with violence by the Palin supporters. This reporter was physically attacked for just doing my job.
No mention will be made about the dorm and the stereo system that just happened to have an Obama sound track available on que with speakers loud enough to disrupt the event. It won’t be mentioned because it will have been evidence of a private citizen disturbing the peace of a city approved event, and a clear infraction of the civil rights of the Palin supporters.
And so it goes...
The only ones that I saw misbehaving happened to be, as usual, Obama nuts and most of them were Elon college students. I don't have a clue what the tuition is at this private school but I'm betting it's pretty high because these didn't seem to be your usual smelly hippy type of students one usually sees protesting. These were the "beautiful" ones dressed in Abercrombie prep attire with the occasional Che Guevara or Obama t-shirt on. One thing that was VERY obvious in spite of hundreds of college students there I saw very few black students at all.
My 11 year old son and I ended up having to sit in the back of the field and watch the rally on a huge screen and we just happened to be where most of these students ended up after getting out of class. They kept making fun of Palin and how she talked with the occasional one trying to impress their friends yelling out some nasty thing about McCain or Palin or pro Obama. These are the kids that I have hope for some day and I have faith that they will come around once they have to pay taxes and earn their own way in the world.
The article you posted says that somebody named Stein wrote it. I just wonder who the he!! it is?
On the reporter’s blog (which he contributes to rarely) one of the top stories of the month is a repeat of a gushing happy report about “Nailin’ Palin”, the porno movie.
Peruse his site and you will see this guy is pro-Obama voter who has unusual delight for any negativity.
Politico will publish any stupidity. Ben Smith can’t even spell the word “Ethics.”
My apologies Beagle- As I was posting, I guess I was thinking of the columnist Ben Stein, but you’re absolutely right- the article was written by Ben Smith——I’m not him either. -:) My bad.
From the “reporter’s blog:
Sarah Palin Porn is a go
It was only a matter of time.
From the Frisky.com story:
The title of the pornographic homage to the governor of Alaska is Nailin Paylin. Contrary to earlier reports, the movie is in pre-production. One Jerry T. is set to direct, and porn star Lisa Ann will be taking on the role of Paliner, Paylin. According to HUSTLER, Nailin Paylin is a naughty adventure to the wild side of that sexy Alaska governor, featuring girl-on-girl lovin, nailing the Russians, who come knocking on her back-door, and a younger Palin getting seduced by her creationist college professor who will explain a big bang theory even she cant deny! Also included: a three-way hardcore sex scene starring porn stars as Palin/Paylin, Hillary Clinton, and Condoleezza Rice. Of course, no political porn satire would be complete without a salute to Fox Newsa Bill OReilly stand-in will announce the movies multiple sex scandals as they unfold. Nailin Paylin will be released just in time for the November elections, natch.

What a great show that was! the best 15 minutes of sports radio, ever, IMHO.
On a side note, I was at a USC awards banquet a number of years ago and was seated next to Barbara Hedges (She later became U of Washington's AD). She gave me a bit of an inside scoop on Mr. Healy, telling me that everyone in LA Sports knew Jim's mic was always open and that all the sports celebs though he was a great guy and his show was a must listen each evening at Heritage Hall.
hmmm. that one is weird. by law, protesters in NYC are not allowed to have wooden sticks holding their signs. must be cardboard tube or similar. never wood. he would not have been allowed to walk with that sign.
I was just at the McCain rally at FIU.
He is definitely NOT “running away” from JTP. As a matter of fact, he was bashing the media for trying to destroy him.
The campaign should really see what they can do for this guy - he did nothing to bring this on himself.
2 prime Inauguration tickets and an invite to President McCain's first White House Correspondent's Dinner should do the trick.
Bevaqua (couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat) and Garvey the cricket player are two of my favorites. Oh, and of course the history professer............... Jerome Brown!
we call anyone carrying a sign a protestor. i guess i should have said "demonstrator"?
Right on! Show me the video or the photo. At a time when everyone on the planet has cell phones that snap pictures, you can’t tell me no one captured this.
