A Muslim student who said a masked gunman assaulted her after he wrote anti-Muslim slurs in a women's restroom at Elmhurst College has been arrested for filing a false police report, officials said today.
A week after the incident roiled the small college, Elmhurst Police Chief Steve Neubauer said officers had cited Safia Z. Jilani, 19, of Oak Brook, on a single count of filing a false police report. Filing a false police report is a Class 4 felony, punishable by one to three years in prison.
The announcement -- made jointly by Elmhurst Police, the college and the DuPage County state's attorneys office -- concluded there was no merit to her complaint.
"The totality of all the evidence, and interviews with staff and students at the college ... concluded that this incident never happened," Neubauer said in a phone interview.
Jilani's report followed several weeks of tension on campus that began when some students allegedly called anti-Muslim slurs at students protesting the treatment of U.S. captives at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp.
As officials at the private college affiliated with the United Church of Christ last Friday called the incident a hate crime, hundreds of students rallied to show solidarity with their Muslim peers, who constitute about 25 of the school's 3,300 students.
The college beefed up security, including foot and car patrols by Elmhurst police, and campus security offered to escort Muslim students around the campus.
Another day, another phony “hate crime.”

Kinda reminds me of a recent incident where a reporter heard someone yell “kill him” at a McCain rally. Manufacturing stories to promote a political view.
There’s a lot of this going around. Look at the whining by the Commie ‘RATS about the McCain/Palin rallies. DemocRATS are whinyass cowards, liars and just un-American scumbags. Edwards was right. There are TWO AMERICAS and that’s the problem. There are Americans and then there are freeloading scumbags that live in this country only for the free ride.

But it's OK because it brings much needed attention to the epidemic of violent hate crimes committed every day against Muslim college students. Or something like that...

The NEXT step should be to send her a bill for the increased campus security, the investigation, and dismiss her from the college. Typical freeloader behavior to leave a mess for someone else’s family to pay for in the form of higher tuition!
And FWIW, the Club Gitmo crew are treated better than anybody else in the Federal prison system, including the “country clubs”.

Learned this stunt from American and European jews, who for years throughout the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s would ‘vandalize’ their own cemetaries, homes, places of worship, etc., thus providing compelling ‘evidence’ of anti-Semitism. Amazing how it comes back around.

A week after a reported campus hate crime drew national attention, sparked protests and shut down the prestigious Claremont Colleges, police on Wednesday called the incident a hoax staged by a professor who slashed tires, shattered windows and spray-painted racist graffiti on her own car.
Claremont McKenna College psychology professor Kerri Dunn, who had told police that her car was vandalized as she spoke at a March 9 forum on racism, was identified by two eyewitnesses as the person who damaged the auto, authorities said Wednesday.
Professor Kerri Dunn vandalized her own car and then led "Stop The Hate" rallies on campus.
