Sounds like she has his mindset, and has asked for more help in discussing it with her host family and friends.
pie is code word for GETTING YOUR SHARE OF THE PIE. you know, spreading the wealth. taking people’s money and making those ‘behind them’ successful.
Pie.
Please do. Thank you.
The capitalist/conservative is a maker, and knows that the ingredients for another pie are readily available. Even if someone takes a large piece, he knows how to make another pie to ensure everyone has a shot at a piece of pie.
Please do so. I would be honored.
I sincerely hope that anyone reading your excellent letter with sons or daughters in college or university, will take the time to copy your letter and send their own version of it to their children. And pass it around to everyone they know, urging them to do so too.
My daughters were founding members of the Young Republicans Club at their high school. It was a very small club. One day, when they walked into their drama class, their insane teacher met them with a Nazi salute and said “how are the Republican sisters today.” It was only at their urgent request that she, I and the principal did not have a really interesting discussion.
This Dad said nothing about his daughter leaning to the left. He is writing her a letter to help her understand and let her host family understand his point of view (and others on the right) that is being denied by the large majority of our media. IMO, he’s doing his job as a good parent.
My kids have peppered me with questions based on what they hear on the news and I use them as a teachable moments; I give them the facts and direct them to sources for verification.
Shame on you.
Thank you. : )

Shame on YOU!
It is up to PARENTS to instill proper values and beliefs.
WHY
YOU
are offended by this is beyond me!
To even suggest that it is up to PARENTS not schools or friends to instill VALUES and BELIEFS is NOT something I am “ashamed of” or will EVER be “ashamed of”.
You might want to ask YOURSELF what this is so SHAMEFUL to state.
Our kids would NOT need such a letter. Conservative VALUES and BELIEFS are a part of them. When a letter like this is needed - there is a PROBLEM.
Good JOB as a PARENT!

Your daughters don’t need a “letter” like this!
KUDOS to YOU, the PARENT!
“You are wiping your feet on his letter with assumption.”
I wish I were ...
“Letter to my Daughter” tells me what I need to know.
Well educated kids can defend their values and beliefs.
Values and beliefs are the responsibility of PARENTS not government school teachers.
“And it seems this dad is taking that responsibility seriously. Apparently, you would prefer that he not say anything and let the schools indoctrinate without a solid counter argument, and I’m assuming this letter is not the only such conversation he has had with his daughter about politics.”
Apparently this “father” either didn’t do the job properly or trying to make up for being MIA. If more conversations were happening ... this “letter” would not be necessary.
Thanks for sharing your awesome letter. As a one-time exchange student myself, I recognize it as something that’s eloquent and meaningful enough to stand out during an extremely stimulating semester. I’m sure your daughter will have her hands full trying to fend off legions of European socialist college students and your words are probably taken as both a comfort and an aid. You sound like a great dad, congrats!
BTTT to all your voting age kids! :-)
“pie is code word for GETTING YOUR SHARE OF THE PIE. you know, spreading the wealth. taking peoples money and making those behind them successful.
Pie.”
Are you sure he isn’t saying PI as in 3.14159...., as in there is a glitch in his cyborg computer programming?
Who are you to ascertain the necessity of the written word versus the spoken word? Shouldn't that be up to dad? Writing is a form of communication. Should parents not communicate in every way possible with their children?
Your objections are baffling. What point are you trying to make? I still have letters from my mom and dad from my college days. They are wonderful keepsakes, as I'm sure this father's letter will be to his daughter.
Why did you put the word "letter" in quotation marks? Are you insinuating that it's not an actual letter? Why are UPPERCASE words SCATTERED throughout your posts? Why do you end every sentence in an exclamation point!?
Maybe if you were a better writer yourself, you wouldn't take such incredible offense to people who write well.
The eastern European socialism is is right now marching into the U.S. in full force???
