When Guilt by Association Is Fair Game
Insight ^ | Oct. 16, '08 | Jeff Jacoby

Posted on 10/18/2008 3:50:57 PM PDT by T.L.Sink

[Jacoby begins by citing real examples of guilt by association with Ronald Reagan, George Bush and Justice Sam Alito] In none of these cases was there anything like the long relationship that Barack Obama had for so many years with Jeremiah Wright, the incendiary, America-damning pastor he described for years as his mentor, his sounding board, and his friend; nothing comparable to Obama's significant involvement with William Ayers, the domestic-terrorist-turned-extremist professor with whom Obama worked closely at the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, channeling more than $100 million into radical education projects; nor anything akin to Obama's highly profitable relationship with Tony Rezko, the crooked Chicago businessman and political fixer who was convicted in June on multiple counts of fraud, corrupt solicitation, and money laundering. In the course of their 17 year relationship, Rezko directed hundreds of thousands of dollars to Obama's political war chests; he also facilitated the Obamas' purchase of a $1.6 million mansion by agreeing to buy the adjoining lot from the same seller. More and more loudly, Obama's defenders have been insisting that to call attention to these deplorable associations is to engage in unfair "guilt by association."

I must admit that one misguided liberal defender of Obama has endlessly repeated his mantra of "guilt by association" because he's unable to mention anything that's substantivly exculpatory of Obama's guilt: ALAN COLMES. I'm sure those of you who have seen him and Hannity discuss Obama's nefarious associations are as disgusted and tired as I am of Colmes parroting "guilt by association." Guilt by association? Not when the associations have such deep roots and raise such troubling questions about Obama's character and judgment. Anyway, Colmes is a perfect illustration of the sort of person Jacoby's talking about.

Its not guilt by association, its judgement.

Obama found alliances with the Radical Left. They saw a fellow traveller, and he was comforable choosing them to advance his ambitions.

That’s what they don’t want the electorate to ponder, but ponder it they will.

Barack Obama says that for 20 years he didnt know that his pastor was anti-American.
But what is the truth?
The Truth from JeffHead

"In Obama's first book he makes it clear he talked to many ministers and many Church's and in fact he was warned about Reverend Wright. In fact he was warned by Wright himself, 20 years ago.
[Wright to Obama] 'I’ll try to help you if I can,' he said. 'But you should know that having us involved in your effort isn’t necessarily a feather in your cap.' 'Why’s that?' [Obama asked] Reverend Wright shrugged. 'Some of my fellow clergy don’t appreciate what we’re about. They feel like we’re too radical.'

democrats attack republicans with wild guilt by assosiation all the time. Some more recent ones about Palin, that she’s anti-semetic because she once support Bucannen, even though that turned out false

Obama started his political carrier being vetted by Bill Ayers. Basically Ultra Left liked what they saw and decided that Obama is definitely one of them and worth promoting.

As such Obama is not one of us and should not become President (he is not worth to be Senator or to hold any office either).

That's the bottom line.

OBAMA: “I come out of a grassroots organizing background. That’s what I did for three and half years before I went to law school. That’s the reason I moved to Chicago was to organize. “

We were discussing why Obama went to Chicago the other day. The discussion didn’t go far when it was suggested he went for school. According to this statement, that isn’t so.

WHY DID BARAK OBAMA GO TO CHICAGO? WHO SENT HIM? WHO WAS WAITING FOR HIM?

His Hawaiian mentor FRANK MARSHALL DAVIS was previously active in Chicago. It isn’t difficult to believe Obama went to Chicago to join Ayers because of Davis’s teachings and associations.

Well said! What really burns my hide is that this insults our intelligence. It’s well documented that he had very close personal and professional ties to Wright. In fact, he proved this himself when after the videotapes became public, he was forced to admit that Wright was his mentor, friend, spiritual advisor and that he even got the title for his book (”The Audacity of hope”) from one of Wright’s sermons. There’s no way he could have been in those pews with his family (children baptized by Wright, etc.) for 20 years and been unaware of of his pastor’s anti-American, anti-Semitic, and vicious conspiracy theories. It defies belief and, as I said, insults us all. Having said that, I’m still utterly astounded that such a scoundrel and neo-Marxist could become our next president!
