(Denver) Archbishop Criticizes Obama, Catholic Allies ( Finally! )

DENVER (AP) - Denver Roman Catholic Archbishop Charles Chaput labeled Barack Obama the "most committed" abortion-rights candidate from a major party in 35 years while accusing a Catholic Obama ally and other Democratic-friendly Catholic groups of doing a "disservice to the church."

Chaput, one of the nation's most politically outspoken Catholic prelates, delivered the remarks Friday night at a dinner of a Catholic women's group.

His comments were among the sharpest in a debate over abortion and Catholic political responsibility in a campaign in which Catholics represent a key swing vote.

While Chaput has won praise from traditionalist Catholics for stressing opposition to abortion as a foundational voting issue, voices on the Catholic left have sought to apply church teachings to war, poverty, the environment and other issues.

Yeah!!!!

This weekend we watched the DVD by faithful citizenship at mass helping Catholics know how important it is to vote and to vote for life...

This is the most active I’ve seen the church really help the faithful get the vote out and to vote their conscience.

God forbid what will happen to the Church if Obama, Reid, and Pelosi are running the county. Prepare for religious persecution

He {Obama} has offered Americans real solutions even on tough issues like abortion, where we can come together to teach our kids responsibility and self-respect, to prevent unintended pregnancies, and offer strong support to women.

And, just in case the abortion doesn't work and the kid makes it out into the world, we'll just toss him onto a shelf in the utility room and leave him there until he dies.

nc - I don't think it is just Obama. When I read this and the wording of the article the thought jumped into my mind that this is just another attack by the left as a whole on the Catholic Church.

My brother and I were discussing this just the day. For the past 25 years there has been a concerted effort by the left to discredit and destroy the Catholic Church. Think about it. If they take down the Church, which is still pretty strong in this country, it opens the door for their brand of socialism to become the replacement "church".

Its about time that someone in the Church spoke up against Obama.

Send this video to any CINO you know. Pass it along.
According to the authors, the video is getting more traffic than MoveOn.org

This morning on FOX news. A catholic priest, I believe it was Father Jonathan Morris explained how many potential voters are afraid to be labeled as racists by the left, so when they are questioned by poll takers they do not reveal that they will not be voting for Obama’s socialist agenda, but instead say that they are undecided.

Last night at Mass, our Priest said.."I'm not going to tell you who to vote for, I would never do that, but you better go INTO the Voting Booth as a CHRISTIAN and Vote like a CHRISTIAN....there is no LINE to cross"!!! WTG, Father!!!

I have NEVER heard a Priest say ANYTHING about VOTING!! Pelosi opened up a hornet's nest! Thanks, Nan!

Interesting. The priest at the church I attended last night also said everyone should vote, and he was not going to tell us who to vote for. Just that we owe it to God for blessing us to live in this country. We need to have our say in how it is governed. I was disappointed though he did not talk about the life issue. The church though is observing October as respect life month. I’m sure the priest is solid on the abortion issue but did not think he should speak out about it. I was disappointed.

Call the Priest and let him know that you WANT him to talk about the abortion issue.....that it is MOST important.

Is that the priest who wrote an article saying people “confess” to him that they are not voting for 0bama like they think it is a sin? Pretty sad that such hero worship and the crafting of nothing more than an image of a candidate would be at play so much in an American election.

Wanna bet that you won’t hear anything like this from the Chicago Catholic Archdiocese?

No, I don’t wanna take your money. It’s a sucker bet.

“Wanna bet that you won’t hear anything like this from the Chicago Catholic Archdiocese?”

Don’t feel bad, we’ve got the same problem in L.A.

But we’re workin’ on it out here.

Just like in politics, we need to start replacing the Libs in the Church hierarchy too!

We are concerned that Archbishop Chaput’s comments - even those made in his personal capacity - will have a chilling effect on this dialog,” Korzen said in a statement

What dialog, there's no dialog, you're just looking for something to ease your conscience.

I like what Father John Corapi said on EWTN a while back about the “Catholic” pro-abortion politicians...”they should have been excommunicated a long time ago!”

God bless Archbishop Chaput! If only Cardinal Egan would have been so strong at the Al Smith dinner.

“If only Cardinal Egan would have been so strong at the Al Smith dinner.”

Yea, well it takes a set of gonads to do that and the Church has been led by a bunch of geldings for decades.
We can only hope & pray that Pope Benedict starts putting the old hierarchy out to pasture and replaces them with some horses with BALLS!
