YES. YES. YES. How soon we forget what the Democrat primary illustrated. Obama won precisely because he was able to get his far left extremist goons to caucuses and dominate them. But when he had to compete in open primaries, especially in big states, he lost every time. And that was with him having the nomination all but wrapped up (which, of course, was due to anti-democratic measures in the Democrat party, such as the superdelegates). Whenever Obama faced an electorate of rural and suburban voters, he lost badly. This guy does not play well among those groups. Even among Democrats. Don't think the Hillary supporters don't know that an Obama loss this time around means their favorite will be able to run again in 2012. Kerry was able to attract enough bitter clingers and had the largest Democrat popular vote total in a presidential race ever. Obama won't do that. Let's face the truth. Obama dominates relatively small constituencies in American life. African-Americans, White Upper Class liberals, left wing extremists, entertainers, academics, and the young. This is not a winning coalition. Democrats put themselves in a position to win when they can appeal to rural and suburban whites. That's why the Clintons are successful, in general, because they are able to appeal to enough rural and suburban voters. I think McCain will win this thing by a larger margin than Bush beat Kerry back in 2004, when the uncertain aftermath of the Iraq invasion provided an opening for Kerry. Now there is less of a rationale for a Democrat. We need the markets to recover as well the economy in general. We're not going to get there with higher taxes and socialist redistribution. McCain needs to hit Obama over tax hikes and spending increases from here on. That's the bread and butter of GOP politics. Get people to vote based on what Obama's going to cost them.
