Marxism's Rebirth?

Election '08: America's Communist Party is giddy over current political events, saying its movement has reached a "turning point." There's no mystery why. Their candidate is the White House front-runner.

Part of the Communist Party USA's glee can be attributed to the current economic turmoil. The radicals who make up its membership have long rooted for capitalism to fail.

But it can't be denied that the popularity of Barack Obama, the most far-left candidate to run for president as the nominee of a major party, is a big part of the Communist Party resurgence.

In an article chronicling that revival, Agence France-Presse makes sure that it mentions that "the Communist Party does not endorse Democrat Barack Obama." The fact is, the party does not officially endorse candidates.

Members of its staff, however, are upfront with their support. The AFP story notes that "many" of the workers at the party headquarters in Manhattan wear Obama's image on lapel buttons.

This is happening because Dubya’s martyr syndrome. Instead of fighting against all false accusations against him, he just smile, asking for more beating, with eyes looking the future longing for a time when history validates him. Unfortunately, because he ran as a ‘conservative’ and ‘free-market’ candidate, the whole brand is stained.

Statement from Communist Party USA (CPUSA):

"The Communist Party USA views the 2008 elections as a tremendous opportunity to defeat the policies of the right-wing Republicans and to move our country in a new progressive direction.

The record turnout in the Democratic Presidential primary races shows that millions of voters, including millions of new voters, are using this election to bring about real change. We wholeheartedly agree with them."

G-d Bless IBD, they’ve done more than any MSM source to sound the alarm bell about 0bama’s Marxist/Socialist plans for America. I send every editorial they do to everyone I know. I wish they’d make TV commercials exposing the 0ne.

What if McCain or some 527 ran an ad saying 0bama is openly endorsed by the CPUSA, by Castro, Hamas, Chavez etc? I would love to see it but I wonder if it would have an impact, or be dismissed as more “hateful negative campaigning.” I suspect that like so many other items against 0bama, it sounds so bizarre that people wouldn’t believe it! Certainly McCain would be denounced as a relic, the critics would say the Cold War is over, etc etc.

Just watched “Wild in the Streets” again. Kind of eerie, the similarities to today’s political climate are striking.

“The radicals who make up its membership have long rooted for capitalism to fail. “

But what failed was outcome-based socialism! Don’t these guys read Free Republic? It’s all spelled out.

IBD nails it once again. Their editorial page does the job the WSJ used to do.

I remember rejoicing at the defeat of marxism. Sadly, freedom and liberty are now on retreat in the U.S. A majority seem to want it and while those of us who have studied marxism can see where we’re headed, I don’t know what anyone can do about it. Marxists never give up power willingly.

I think it would have an impact, with the undecided voters for sure. Yep, McCain would be denounced, labeled, and villified. But, the ad would have a helluva impact on undecided voters, and that's what counts. Too bad it probably won't happen. It's up to us to send IBS editorials like this to everyone we know and ask them to do the same. Every vote counts.

I saw that movie at the Fox Theatre in Tucson when I was in High School. I have been thinking the same thing for a long time. It is very interesting to me that someone else here picked up on it.
