Bear meat isn't 'rancid". It's very rich though. Nice smoked Bear ham and sausage is very tasty in fact. Knowing what to do with the meat is all part of hunting. So is putting that rug on the wall.

It doesn't have to be the biggest bear rug in the world either. It's the one YOU hunted, and the memories that go along with it that are hanging on the wall.

Just because a hunter puts a mount on the wall doesn't mean he's a "trophey hunter". It's utilizing every part of the animal.

I agree but hunting from your porch isn’t a good definition for hunting. I have a 5 pt buck every day sitting in my backyard and I would never think about shooting it (also, it is illegal).

Sometimes nature simply needs to be observed and not taken down.
