Several sources have told FOX Sports that Favre earlier this year phoned the Detroit Lions prior to their battle versus Favre's old team, the Green Bay Packers, and gave them a rundown of the nuances of what Green Bay does on offense. According to the sources, Favre actually spent over an hour on the phone with Lions coaches, who were connected with Favre by then-team president Matt Millen. While the Lions still lost and the Packers and Favre's replacement Aaron Rodgers played well.

I'm a Vikings fan so everything I say is totally unbiased :)

First, there is nothing wrong with Farve telling Tony Romo to suck it up and play. It's a shot in the arm for the NFL by making encouraging a franchise playing to stay in the game and give the fans what they pay for.

Second, Farve could have giving the entire Packer play-book, hand signals, and the frequency of the OB headset to Detroit, and it still wouldn't have made a difference in the outcome of that game or in a series of downs for that matter. Detroit is that bad, and has always been the kicking boys of the Central Division. Third, if this stunt ends up keeping Farve out of the Hall of Fame, then the NFL is no better than MLB for keeping the 2nd greatest QB ever to play the game (Joe Kapp is the greatest) out of their hall of fame.
