US Law firm enters into agreement to represent API in The Michelle Obama tapes to be released soon in the US

The touchy interview tapes of Michelle Obama, the wife of the US Presidential Candidate Barack Obama is soon ready for release in the US and will be aired unedited.

The release has taken long due to the fact that API wanted to clear all legal hurdles and be safe from getting sued by any one. API and a US Law firm - LAW OFFICES OF PHILIP J. BERG has just entered into an agreement giving the law firm the right to represent API in all matters that may arise due to the Michelle Obama interview and the release of the tapes in the US.

API has realised that the interview with Mrs Obama is of great significance in the coming elections. The release of the tapes is not intended to derail the elections or to destroy the chances that Mr Obama may have in getting elected the first black president of the United States.

For us in API we wanted to get the tapes released - aired by a news channel that has a good reputation in the US, one that has listeners interested in the elections.

Many networks have contacted us and due to the fact that we in API do not know them from before, it took time to go through all requests from the networks that took contact with us and to choose one that will air the tapes unedited.

API is not interested in selling the tapes to any network. Our demand is that the tapes must be aired unedited by the network that we finally select.

While doing the selection, we have landed into a problem with some networks who have taken upon themselves to inform the readers that they have already got an agreement to air the tapes.

So far, no network has been selected and yet we have received signed agreements by three networks claiming to have been finally given the go ahead to release the tapes.

One kind reader has helped us a great deal by forwarding one email that has been circulated in the US about a deal. We want to state categorically that we are not asking any one for money in exchange for airing the tapes.

I asked Philip Berg, via e-mail, whether or not he thought the API/Michelle Obama tapes were real and whether they would in fact be released within the next day or so as Chief Editor Korir maintains. His answer was simple, and firm.

"Yes," Berg wrote.

I will say that there is more to this that I simply cannot report. Still, keep checking here for updates. In the meantime, keep your fingers crossed, and know that I am doing the same.


UPDATE -- October 20, 10:00am:


That's right. The news that I could not report last night is that Philip Berg, the same man who filed suit against Barack Obama in federal court, has been retained by African Press International to handle the legal ramifications of distributing the purported Michelle Obama tapes stateside.

"They came to me, and they want me to do it," said Berg, who maintains that he has not yet heard any tape himself, but mentioned that API is saying that they "have more information than what they already released."

Further comment, Berg said, will be reserved until after he hears the taped evidence.



Given what we know about the Michelle Obama "whitey" videotape and even back in 1992 with the photographs of a flag-burning Bill Clinton which never showed up, I am waiting patiently but refuse to buy in. Still, I will report to you what I hear and know. Things will be developing more throughout the day, including with information that I cannot yet release. Check back here for updates.

Hopefully Berg will do his "due diligence" quickly. IF all of this is true, it will be fought out in the Court of Public Opinion, not in a court of law.

Berg is already discredited. He tried to sue Bush and Cheney for orchestrating 9/11.

The guy is a nut. I don’t know why anyone takes him seriously.

A few things stand out to me.

The first thing is- API doesn’t hesitate to publish very unflattering remarks directed towards them.

Next- they took time to explain and why the accusation that the NGO they operate is not true.

And- they haven’t let the story go. Granted- they continue to delay - with reasons that may be ridiculous on their face- but while there’s a lot about it that feels hoax-y they keep fueling the story. Why?

From what I can gather from their “updates” this morning- no money is exchanging hands (unless API pays Berg legal fees) for the tapes.

I’m still far from convinced- but if it’s a hoax- it’s pretty hard to see where they want it to go and what they stand to gain if the whole thing is proven false.

I read a post on API with a convoluted theory that says they’ll push it far enough that all the “Conservative media” will publish and play the “tapes” only to have them proven false- in which case the Fairness Doctrine would be easier to pass. That seems an even further stretch- and a disinformation tact.

I love mysteries- but this is insane!

My first guess is this is an Obama campaign misdirection effort.

But we shall see. Then again, if real, people got to hear Gennifer Flowers’ tapes of Slick and apparently did not care.

If it’s an Obama mis-direction effort- then let’s hope that Berg has the “tape” voice checked/validated by forensic experts first. IF there are tapes and it goes that far...

Good old Gennifer..LOL! However- with Bill everything was written off as “just sex”.

Why would the African Press International have it in for Obama? I thought they revered him?

Also, couldn't team Obama buy their way out of it with their millions?

Corsi's Kenyan findings are that Obama himself advised his uncle Odinga during and especially after the Kenyan election that the best way to gain power and office was to play up tribal jealousies. Thus Kenyan politics becomes not abstract policy arguments, but tribal jealousy and warfare.

So while we thinks of politics and politicians in America as Americans, with labels of left or right, those labels being able to change by a person's free choice, in Kenya -- and in Africa generally -- politics is tribal, and one can not chose ones tribe, it is fixed by birth circumstance.

So why would folks at API chose to post something that puts Obama in a bad light -- true or not? It could be that some are allied with the tribe that is not that of Obama/Odinga, or it could be that they are idealists, and trying whole-heartedly to get beyond tribal politics to the politics of ideas and ideals.
