I never thought of Colin Powell as someone for sale, but he’s been bought.

Powell has been for sale to the highest bidder for a very long time.

He was an intern and unpaid assistant in SecDef Harold Brown's office (under Carter) before returning to the Army. Then he got a job in the Reagan White House.

I presume it is his misfortune to have risen to prominence under Republican administrations and to be labeled a Republican.

I have always though of him as Colin Powell(S). The "S" stands for self. He's a party of one.

At least his son Michael is loyal. He dances with those who brung him.

Powell has ALWAYS been [small ‘p’] political. He never commanded anything larger than a battalion in the Army. He was an NSC type for most of his career [Haigh lite], working the room as it were. He made Chairman of the JCS based on who he knew, not what he did.

And don't forget the way he and Armitage operated the State Department. It leaked more than it did before they got there. Powell seemed to think he was running his own foreign policy, and not ‘W's’. And when they differed the leaks came on in droves. And he let Armitage hang Libby out in the wind, and did NOTHING to prevent the latter’s persecution and prosecution when he knew the truth.

And remember, Stormin’ Norman endorsed Johnny Mac back in January. That's a REAL SOLDIER!
