Conservatives are always complaining about liberal bias in the media, and rightfully so. This bias always escalates during presidential election campaigns. Yet never before has there been an election with nearly this much potential for inspiring a substantial backlash against the media, expressed in the privacy the voting booth.
Here are the five main reasons why this is so:
1. For fifteen years, Bill and Hillary Clinton were the darlings of the liberal mainstream media. Yet when Barack Obama started gaining momentum, the media ditched Bill and Hillary at the curb and went speeding off to lover's lane with their new flame.As a result, many Democrats who are loyal to the Clintons got a taste of the kind of media bias that Republicans have had to deal with for ages. The fact that the media accused the likes of Bill Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro of being racists perfectly illustrates just how surreal things have gotten.
2. The media has had to work four times as hard as they usually do to protect Obama, and it's no wonder why. They've never been faced with the task of promoting a Democrat candidate with so little experience, so few accomplishments, and so many stories that they've had to suppress that show Obama in a negative light. The acrobatics that the media has had to perform on Obama's behalf is like something out of Ringling Brothers Circus. The efforts that they had to make on behalf of Clinton, Gore, and Kerry were like a game of hopscotch by comparison.
3. The international media went into a rapture over Obama. They told us Americans that putting Obama in the White House would go a long way towards atoning for our rottenness. They also told us that if we failed to elect Obama that we would suffer eternal damnation.
4. When John McCain selected Sarah Palin as his VP, it angered the media for several reasons. First of all, they never heard of her, so they had to scramble to dig up dirt on her. Secondly, as a female conservative, she was automatically viewed as an apostate. But most troubling of all is the fact that Palin energized the conservative base, which up to that point had been very lukewarm towards McCain. Within a few days, it was clear the the media was willing to work just as hard in an effort to destroy Palin, as they were willing to work to protect Obama.
5. With only a month and a half to go until the election, America suffered it's greatest financial crisis since the Great Depression. Instead of the media doing it's duty and giving the public the who, what, where, and when about the culprits for this crisis, they engaged in a shameful coverup in order to propel Obama over the finish line. Yet the truth is slowly seaping out.
The media is correct about one thing, though. There really is a lot of anger hanging in the air at these McCain/Palin rallies. Actually, it's a combination of frustration and anger. Conservatives are frustrated with John McCain. They're frustrated because he is letting himself be cowed by political correctness. They're also frustrated because he has missed many opportunites to score points against Obama. McCain has been landing minor jabs to Obama's upper body, when he's had several chances to knock Obama's block off. But the anger that these conservatives feel is aimed squarely at the media. They don't like Obama, but they can't blame the guy for getting away with what he's been able to get away with, especially when everyone is making it so easy for him.
Many conservatives say that they feel like they're voting for Palin and against Obama, more than they're voting for McCain. I suspect that they're actually voting against the media more than anything else. Obama is just one man, and his time in politics will come and go. Whereas the media is a constant, and it has clearly hit an all time low. There are plenty of Hillary Clinton supporters with similar sentiments.
We hear a lot of talk about the Bradley effect, but hardly a word about the potential for an anti-media backlash effect. At this point, we don't know how significant it will be. But here's what we do know......this election is different.

Let’s not forget that McCain was the media’s favorite Republican from 2000 until he advocated the Surge. They abandoined him like a deformed Spartan baby.
Yup, this election is different. Shock and Shadenfreude on November 4th. There will be moonbat wailing and gnashing of teeth and the MSM will be officially dead.
Some of these media types are in for some tough surprises, especially when they are forced to go into flyover country to do their jobs. I’m not advocating violence against them, but I will not be surprised in the least to find instances of rednecks punching the lights out of these elitist prikz...

Americans will vote according to what the see in the news media, and what they see in culture.
I’m more scared of the media right now than I am of Obama. They are every bit as partisan as Pravda. There will be no meaningful public discussion of any future topic as long as the media remains committed to one party rule above all else.
The Obama Stalinists are already planning for this, my FRiend.
There will be a quashing of opposing views to Obama on an unimagined scale.
Interestlingly, however, is that the Obama Stalinsts do not see the inevitable power struggle; and how so very many "fellow travelers" in the media and elsewhere, expecting a reward for their support, will be quietly moved from the "asset" column to the "liability" column.

Let's hope that Obama doesn't win next month for the sake of all the violence that will ensue if he does win.

This is spot on. The media does not even know the anger of Republican base will bring to the polls.
I think they have gotten a taste but they will really see it on November 4th.

Don’t take me the wrong way, but I’m looking forward to it. Not that blood and violence are something to be desired, but the injustices and inequalities within our government need to be redressed. There is a reason that people are ANGRY; because the government has become such that it blatantly rewards the criminals and the foolish while punishing those who “follow the rules” or think about the consequences of their actions (like the few banks who DIDN’T jump into the subprime bandwagon.).
In fact that’s part of the reason I just exercised my 2nd amendment rights to purchase a firearm. (Besides that I want to go out shooting more than once a year with my Guard unit.)
Kind of funny in a pathetic sort of way....I was watching FNC this a.m. and someone we all respect (his name escapes me at the moment) was saying oh yes there IS huge media bias. They had to cut him off VERY suddenly almost in the middle of a sentence to cut to Obama giving his presidential talk about the state of the union, and press conference. The timing could not have been better. Obama is taking everyone else’s ideas as he sees fit and talking out of both sides of his mouth as usual. He is thinking that if he LOOKS presidential we will forget that he is just a CORRUPT community organizer.
As a result of their eager, ongoing and complete violation of the public trust, our own media is as great a threat to this country, as ANY other enemy we face.
Why are we not at war with them?
Why do any of us let them into our homes?
I canceled my cable years ago. Why will almost none of the rest of us do the same?
It’s your money they do this to us with, not mine.
As soon as a cable or satellite company offers and advertises a package that expressly boycotts the MSM, then I’ll do business.
Of course, without the help of any of the main stream media grazing sheep, that will never happen.
Why not cancel your cable or satellite for a month or three, and give the money to something worthy instead, like the Boy Scouts? When you cancel, be sure to tell them the conditions under which they can get your business back.
The brain cells, high blood pressure, and country you save, might be your own.
The first order of business IF Obama wins....cancel the cable. I will not able to stand seeing Bambi every day, so I’ll do without. It’ll save me money too since there’s nothing but crap on anyway
