Now, on the cusp of what some think will be a major Obama victory, we are beginning to see emerge what I will call "me-too conservatives" -- initially among conservative commentators (politicians to follow). I have in mind, among others: Peggy Noonan, David Brooks, Chris Buckley, David Frum and Kathleen Parker.

This is an excellent article....and I think gets to the heart of my thoughts on conservatism and the lack of it showing up anywhere in our public leaders.

They will eat crow on Nov. 4th. The Beltway conservatives wouldn't know conservatism if it bit them on their rear ends. They're trying hard to get along with the New Order to actually bother to defend conservatism.

Very good article. I heard Rush talking about it earlier today.

"This is an excellent article....and I think gets to the heart of my thoughts on conservatism and the lack of it showing up anywhere in our public leaders."

I would not paint with such a broad brush. Here's why: The House Republicans that stayed in the House with the lights out and cameras off for the energy bill. The ones that voted BOTH times NO-HELL NO against the 700-billion bailout. They were true conservatives and have been even when the Senate was in Republican control BUT with over a dozen RINOS never got the good bills they sent up to the Senate passed.

Let's not forget good, true conservatives turned out like Rick Santorum and George Allen. Others that never made it like Pat Toomey (PA) or Bob Marshall (VA).

There are still many true conservatives out there, but I'm doubtful that they can be elected even in the future.

As Blankley writes: "The new conservative movement will be facing a political opponent that will reveal itself soon to be both multiculturalist and Eurosocialist. We will be engaged in a struggle to the political death for the soul of the country."

I agree with him. The brain-damaged-mind-altered-numbed being turned out of high schools and colleges (as we daily hear the horror stories) are taught by the "Bill Ayers" union of teachers and professors. I have so many friends (including my own) with such far out liberal thinking it's scary. Absolutely nothing that you show them or tell them about Barak Hussein Obama will alter their devotion to him. Those Marxists/Communists/Crooks-Gangsters/Black-Liberation-white-haters who raised and trained him matter not.

I sometimes believe that rebuilding the true conservative movement seems insurmountable.

Speaking of Peggy Noonan....I wonder if she sees out on the horizon not one Republican worthy or able to deliver a wonderful speech authored by her...and her goal is to be relevant again....Maybe she sees Obama as a possible employer of her speech writing??
