Voting Pro-Abortion Called Cooperating in Evil: Texas Bishops Resolve Doubts
Catholic Online ^ | 10/23/08

Posted on 10/23/2008 4:31:09 AM PDT by tcg

They said there are only two conditions when voting for a pro-abortion candidate is permissible: "A. If both candidates running for office support abortion or 'abortion rights,' a Catholic would be forced to then look at the other important issues and through their vote try to limit the evil done; or,

"B. If another intrinsic evil outweighs the evil of abortion. While this is sound moral reasoning, there are no 'truly grave moral' or 'proportionate' reasons, singularly or combined, that could outweigh the millions of innocent human lives that are directly killed by legal abortion each year.

"To vote for a candidate who supports the intrinsic evil of abortion or 'abortion rights' when there is a morally acceptable alternative would be to cooperate in the evil -- and, therefore, morally impermissible."

The bishops concluded affirming that the decisions made on such political and moral issues "may affect each individual's salvation."

"As Catholics, we must treat our political choices with appropriate moral gravity," they wrote, "and in doing so, realize our continuing and unavoidable obligation to be a voice for the voiceless unborn, whose destruction by legal abortion is the preeminent intrinsic evil of our day."

Our pastor, Msgr Patrick Bishop of Transfiguration Church in Marietta, Ga. and Archbishop Wilton Gregory of the Catholic Diocese of Atlanta are supporters of Obama!

Msgr Patrick Bishop has stated on October 18, 2008 that there is no difference between obama’s position on abortion and Sarah Palin’s position of capital punishment. Hence Patrick Bishop is creating a moral equivalency on abortion and capital punishment.

Hence, Msgr Patrick Bishop lied about Sarah Palin;s Position on Capital Punishment from the alter in full pastoral garb.

“may affect each individual’s salvation”———

Pelosi and Biden, take heed. For the sake of your political expediency, you have jeopardized your own eternity and as yet, neither of you has publicly recanted. In fact, each of you has tried to excuse yourself.

The three sorriest words: “It’s too late”.

Repent and recant, Pelosi and Biden, while there is yet time.

As with most churches, your pastor is without moral compass.

It is up to the church congregation to provide the leadership for the pastor and with Gods help lead him to the truth.

Most pastors are not leaders, but they are willing to follow the congregations will and understanding of Gods Word.

How about right now?

http://www.catholicsforchoice.org/actioncenter/CatholicsforaFreeChoice-SpeakOut.asp

Recent polls indicates 47% of Catholics say they are pro-choice.

I’m not anti-Catholic but, I do believe the CINOs need to be purged from your church.

More on voting against abortionist candidates from Catholic Bishops ... this one’s in Texas, but it’s essentially the same message.

BS that abortion is the equivalent of capital punishment.

Humans are created in God’s image,
and this is WHY capital punishment is required.

Genesis 9:6 Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed

Abortion is simply killing the innocent for the convenience of the living.

Folks who make snide remarks about things they do not understand are spectacularly foolish.

Oh from your lips to Gods ears wolfcreek! I was just speaking to a priest about this Tuesday. I am so angry at how far the church has let this go! Not only on abortion but all cultural/moral issues (gay marriage, women in the clergy, sex abuse scandal, rock concerts instead of Mass,etc......) I would like to see all who disagree with the church on grave matter have a sentance of excommunication issued.

This is not a democracy and there are many other churches where they can belong. If you do not agree with the church on fundamentals, I hate to break it to them, they ARE NOT CATHOLIC. Calling themselves one only makes us chuckle-but it does confuse the masses and something has to be done about it.

I am glad so many bishops are standing up for life this election. I hope it is the beginning of a movement to take back our church from cinos.
God bless!

Thank you. I have lurked here for a long time, but Obamas stand on abortion has forced me to speak, not only here, but everywhere I can.

I truly believe this election cycle that the scripture “I put before you life and death, choose life” could not be more clear. I also believe if Obama get elected, God will remove his providence from this country, as the cries of 54 million aborted babies have reached heaven, and God is avenging them.

Your comment was not “straight talk” It was sarcastic and snide. There’s a difference. Straight talk addresses facts and offers solutions. Snide and sarcastic “talk” is counter-productive and breeds trouble.

Your ignorant comment had nothing to do with "clean[ing] house".

BTW, of what Church (or church) are you a member?

Read the article. I’m sure it’s not above your comprehension level. Bishops Kevin Farrel and Kevin Vann have put on a demonstration of true straight talk. You would do well to learn from them.

That explains things to me, a tiny bit. My folks (retirees on Jekyll Island) are cradle-to-grave Catholics and yet they are fervent supporters of The One. I am very close to my parents, but I am so disgusted with their support of that man that I can hardly speak to them. I wonder how many other southern Bishops are choosing to stand against the Church.
