[history]
A 43-year-old Japanese piano teacher's sudden divorce from her online husband in a virtual game world made her so angry that she logged on and killed his digital persona, police said Thursday.
The woman, who has been jailed on suspicion of illegally accessing a computer and manipulating electronic data, used his identification and password to log onto popular interactive game "Maple Story" to carry out the virtual murder in mid-May, a police official in northern Sapporo City said on condition of anonymity, citing department policy.

"So a woman committed a virtual murder of her virtual husband in a virtual game. Is she staying in a virtual prison?"
Was a virtual criminal investigation conducted at the virtual scene of the crime, and did the virtual coroner conduct a virtual autopsy at the virtual morgue?

Are you sure this isn’t from The Onion? :-)

Too modern for me... back in the day you’d just let the air out of your virtual spouse.

I think she logged on as him (the actual crime) and erased his character.

My character was a chaotic neutral thief who was tired of being told “NO” by an anal retentive character who was a PITA when it came to having fun.
Lets just say when he stopped coming to the games no one was too sorry, besides he never ponied up when it came time for a mountain dew run.
He deserved it.

My brother (who is only capable of playing an evil character) was the last man standing after a fight. A more powerful character (with an awesome magic sword) was wounded and knocked out.
My brother said “OK, I report back to the party that we were attacked and I was the only survivor”
The Dungeon Master said “Oh no, the other character survived, he was just unconscious and wounded.”
My brother “I am afraid he didn't survive....but I brought back his sword.”
DM “but...but....he survived!”
My brother “ummm....no...He didn't survive.”
It was hilarious!

Man does that bring back some fond memories of adolescence.
I remember all of us laughing so hard the DM’s mom came downstairs to the family room at 4 a.m. telling us to lower it down or else... Those were some good times.

That would be pretty cool . . . a bunch of virtual characters conspiring to bust the virtual murderer out of virtual prison.

Real men play EVE Online. This
video is a classic . . . mostly funny for the (sadly, spotty) audio.
A bunch of guys armed some transport ships, and due to fortunate circumstances, take down a heavy cruiser.
