McCain could use this, saying something like, "Senator Obama has called on his supporters to 'get in our faces' and now we find out that a young woman, a loyal-campaign worker who is a volunteer, was violently attacked and the letter 'B' was literally carved in her face. Senator Obama, is this the kind of 'in their faces' that you were talking about?

If McCain has any grit at all, he has to speak to this.

People have put themselves out and put themselves at risk on his behalf. If they can risk themselves for him, the least he can do is stand up and speak for them.

You can't expect the press or the Dems to do this for you. In their playbook its only negative when you answer back. McCain's people need to hear from McCain.

Are people afraid to put McCain/Palin signs in their yard - knowing they could be targeted?

Absolutely disagree.

McCain has done well by distancing himself from this kind of thing. He will be seen as a leader for his lack of escalation.
