It's upside down. If the attacker was kneeling behind her head, it would be a "B" from his perspective.
He probably did it upside down - likely she was being forced down on the street - how else would you allow your face to be carved? OTOH go ahead and be nervous

The backwards B makes me suspicious as well, also the NEATNESS of the B.
The photo could be flipped, but she must have stood very still to have that B come out the way it did.
