Battleground polls: Obama 47%, McCain 46%

A Thursday poll puts the presidential vote at 48 percent for Barack Obama and running mate Joe Biden versus 45 percent for Arizona Sen. John McCain and running mate Sarah Palin. Four percent are undecided in the new poll conducted by George Washington University, Tarrance Group and Lake Partners.
But the poll also shows that in toss-up states, the Obama-Biden ticket has 47 percent compared with 46 percent for McCain-Palin with 5 percent undecided. States such as Florida, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Nevada and Ohio could tilt the election.
The poll of 1,000 voters shows the race closer than other polls. The current average of recent polls by Real Clear Politics gives Obama a 7-point lead.
The GWU poll shows McCain leading among whites (51 percent to 42 percent) and Hispanics (48 percent to 44 percent). Other surveys have given Obama a lead among Hispanics, who could be key in states such as Florida and Colorado. President Bush got 40 percent of the Latino vote in 2004.
Obama holds leads in the GWU poll with younger voters (59 percent to 32 percent) as well as with voters who are black, live in big cities and are not married.
The poll shows the rural vote fairly even.
The survey also paints Palin as the most polarizing of the presidential and vice presidential candidates. She is liked by 51 percent of those questioned and disliked by 42 percent. Palin is most popular with older voters, Hispanic and white men, and least popular with city dwellers, younger voters, African-Americans and those in the Northeast.

New Hampshire Polls recently showing McCain ahead when corrected for 2000, 2004, or 2006 turnout ID. NH Democrat on liberal talk radio expressing open concern about internal NH numbers and McCain’s lasting popularity there.
Ohio and Florida polls showing McCain ahead even after their absurd Party ID numbers. Obama CAMPING out in Florida for three days as pollster show Floridians coming home to the GOP candidate.
Jim Geraghty at NRO’s Campaign Spot proving statistically that it is near impossible for Obama to win NC, and very very tough for him to win VA. Early voting numbers not quite as impressive as Obama wanted in several states (though not all), but nowhere near the exit polling numbers his team was hoping for with early voting so far.
Polls showing to be a fraud the claim that young voters and first-time voters will dominate the 2008 election.
ACORN out in the open, now having to look over their shoulders in many cases before trying to cast a fraudulent vote. For a change, they know everyone is watching and people are getting caught - this is a thought in the back of their minds that will make SOME difference. Times before, they never believed for a second anyone could get caught. Now they have at least some fear.
Iowa becomes a battleground - McCain and independent pollsters hinting at a dead heat there.
New Mexico turning back into a battleground - Governor Richardson admitting McCain is popular there and it will be close.
All this in the last day, or couple of days.

Gosh, I thought this was a conservative website not a Vote-McCain-or-Else site. A year ago, no one here could even stand the sight, sound, or thought of this King of the RINOs. But it never ceases to amaze me how pure partisanship without principle makes people’s rhetoric contort and flip-flop more than John Kerry in his previous life as a gasping fish.
You know very well my one New York vote is not going to make any difference whatsoever, but you are utterly enmeshed in this we-gotta-slay-the-foe-democratic-vote-gop-at-all-costs mentality. It is this mentality that has just about ruined the GOP in Washington.

My post #16 clearly did not say that, so you are either being disengenuous, too lazy to actually read what I wrote, or you are just so blinded by your own notions that it doesn’t matter what I write because you will interpret it however best fits your preconceived views.
You mentioned “his admiration for Mussolini or Chairman Mao,” asking if a declaration of such admiration by McCain would be enough to get the other poster to reject McCain.

It was not worded hypothetically.
It is tough to pull the lever for McCain, but I will gulp a few times and do it even though he will win comfortably here in Tennessee.
In my opinion, the media and establishment Republicans chose McCain for us. My, how quickly they turned on him.
I am voting for McCain because I am so ticked off at the media that I want THEM to lose this election and I shudder to think about the damage B. Hussein could do to our country.
