The students of American River College turned back an effort to recall nine campus leaders in response to their support of Proposition 8, the statewide ballot measure banning same-sex marriage. Results of the vote were released by ARC officials this afternoon.
. . .Individual results differed among the recall targets, but they all cleared the recall by a 200-300 vote margin out of the 3531 votes cast Tuesday and Wednesday.
Students backing the unsuccessful recall say the Proposition 8 vote wasn't the only reason for the recall, but did helped galvanize opposition.

I’m not surprised. That’s a pretty conservative area.
Conservative area? Are you kidding me? I’s so delighted by this news!!! The teachers are as liberal as liberal can be. Unashamed to talk openly in class about their politics and opposition to Prop 8. But the students mostly yawn - knowing their teachers are preaching at them.
#1. The initial election of the student council had a very low number of votes. #2. Kids in community colleges aren’t as militant as the UC-ites. #3. Many of the students are older at community colleges. #4. Many of the students are immigrants from Ukraine, etc.
I LOVE IT!!! LOL at you, Mr. Llorens!
The decent people win one.

I went to ARC too a few years ago. I even took Drama class there - go figure. Its slightly more conservative than the university downtown and definitely more conservative that Davis, but I would safely say that Sacramento is a fairly evenly divided population. If you want to get out of town and be with right-minded conservatives, you need to head to Placer County. I moved to Lincoln when I could afford a house, and that was nice until I saw what they did to that area recently. Now you just have to keep going further up the hills. Auburn, Newcastle, Loomis, are still nice areas, I believe, but haven’t been out that way for a while. I did proudly receive my CCW from the Placer County sheriff when I lived in Lincoln.
Isn’t this news exciting. I’m starting to believe the polls which say the the youth vote is getting more conservative. Understand that the college Republicans at Berkeley are strong these days. Go figure.
arc did an amazing job on prop 8. the Christians are not judging. more like they care about you enough to worry about the big sin you are doing. HOMOSEXUALITY is a sin, and if ChriStians are being active in spreading thAT NEWS TO SOME unaware people, that is a good thing. It means they arent being PASSIve christians. so go arc. and go prop 8. BECAUSE WE CARE.
