Something About Sarah (Delusional Traitor Parker compares Sara Palin to Monica Lewinsky!)
The Washington Post ^ | October 24, 2008 | Kathleen Parker

Posted on 10/24/2008 6:46:44 AM PDT by Lucius Cornelius Sulla

My husband called it first. Then, a brilliant 75-year-old scholar and raconteur confessed to me over wine: "I'm sexually attracted to her. I don't care that she knows nothing."

Finally, writer Robert Draper closed the file on the Sarah Palin mystery with a devastating article in this Sunday's New York Times Magazine: "The Making (and Remaking) of McCain."

McCain didn't know her. He didn't vet her. His campaign team had barely an impression.

. . . . .

As my husband observed early on, McCain the mortal couldn't mind having an attractive woman all but singing arias to his greatness. Cameras frequently capture McCain beaming like a gold-starred schoolboy while Palin tells crowds that he is "exactly the kind of man I want as commander in chief." This, notes Draper, "seemed to confer not only valor but virility on a 72-year-old politician who only weeks ago barely registered with the party faithful."

It is entirely possible that no one could have beaten the political force known as Barack Obama -- under any circumstances. And though it isn't over yet, it seems clear that McCain made a tragic, if familiar, error under that sycamore tree. Will he join the pantheon of men who, intoxicated by a woman's power, made the wrong call?

Had Antony not fallen for Cleopatra, Octavian might not have captured the Roman Empire. Had Bill resisted Monica, Al Gore may have become president, and Hillary might be today's Democratic nominee.

If McCain, rightful heir to the presidency, loses to Obama, history undoubtedly will note that he was defeated at least in part by his own besotted impulse to discount the future. If he wins, he must be credited with having correctly calculated nature's power to befuddle.

I’ve subscribed to National Review since Reagan was elected in 1980. What with this, Buckley Jr’s endorsement of O, and Lopez’s immigration BS, I’m seriously reconsidering that subscription.

I agree about McCain. My opinion of him has improved a great deal in the last couple of months. Still have some major disagreements, of course, but I didn’t vote reluctantly.

“For all her vapid, unjustified attacks on Sarah, Parker summarizes her true loathing in the first sentence: men are sexually attracted to Sarah Palin.”

I think that is the first part of the equation. The second part is Sarah, unlike Parker, has actually accomplished something in her life. So Sarah has outdone her in looks and the brain department.

She needs to be ignored. This is the last time I click on anything with her name on it.

Kathleen Parker has become Maureen Dowd (only with a husband....for now, anyway). There is nothing more pathetic than a jealous woman with the emotional maturity of a middle school JV cheerleader.

True. Tina Fey wrote this movie. Now she's starring in it for real:

Jealous woman is right. Go back and see what Parker’s first reaction was to the Palin vp announcement. I looked through the NRO “The Corner” archives to find out. Surprise, surprise — in her very first comment on Palin, Parker talks about Palin’s looks! She snidely remarks that Palin needs a make-over because her “librarian” looks are not in style. Then in her next post she quickly back-tracked when she realized how attractive everyone found Palin’s looks. I’m telling ya, jealousy is not a bad explanation for Parker’s weird cattness toward Palin.

They don’t want to be accused of being small minded or censoring. I understand K-Lo’s reasoning. I also noticed that they have not included Parker’s column on the front page at NRO. They’re basically burying it. Good for them.

JEALOUSY AND ENVY
by St. Cyprian

Chapter 1

To be jealous of the good that you see and to be envious of those better
than one’s self seems in the eyes of some to be a slight and moderate
wrong, most beloved brothers, and, when it is thought to be light and
moderate, it is not feared; when it is not feared, it is contemned; when
it is contemned, it is not easily avoided; and it becomes a dark and
hidden source of destruction, which, when it is not perceived so that it
can be avoided by the provident, secretly afflicts improvident minds.

From her Townhall biography:

Kathleen Parker has contributed to more than a dozen newspapers and magazines during her 20 years as a journalist. She began her twice-weekly commentary column in 1987 as a staff writer for The Orlando Sentinel. After entering into syndication in 1995, her column rocketed in popularity and now appears in more than 300 papers nationwide.

Parker's many awards for her incisive commentary include Best Columnist from the Florida Society of Newspaper Editors, and First Place, Division 3 in the American Association of Sunday and Feature Editors' Ninth Annual Writing Awards competition, both in 1997. In 1993, she won the H. L. Mencken Writing Award issued by The Baltimore Sun. The judges praised Parker for "singing another note on the subject of family values and following the tradition of H. L. Mencken in attacking ignorance and stupidity with vividness and originality."

In addition to her syndicated column, Parker is director of the School of Written Expression at the Buckley School of Public Speaking and Persuasion in Camden, South Carolina. She previously ran her own public relations company and is a past instructor of editorial writing and advanced feature writing at the University of South Carolina College of Journalism and Mass Communications. She is a member of USA Today's Board of Contributors, writing regularly for the paper's op-ed page.

Parker's column focuses on social issues related to family, children and gender. Having grown up in Florida with four stepmothers and a variety of siblings -- half-, step- and whole -- Parker says, "I know of what I speak." She lives in Camden, South Carolina with her husband, son and a variety of pets.

I’m sorry about the double post. I did search.

I see we did about the same to get the point across with the “edit” article restriction.

Kathleen Parker On Sarah Palin: A Regular Folks Challenge
...Yeah, I worry that she is untested and I worry that the potentates of the Middle East will sneer at her because she is a woman (at least until she rolls a few divisions up their asses), but I'm not there with Kathleen Parker and the other naysayers just yet... —Savannah Red

Parker can’t seem to stop making a complete fool out of herself. She used to be thoughtful and reasonably eloquent, but now she’s just petty and small. I agree with a poster above that Parker revels in the attention. I have little doubt she feels like a martyr.

It's disappointing that formerly serious writers like Parker and Peggy Noonan have decided to dedicate entire columns to the freaking Republican VP(!!) candidate. They display all the psychopathy of stalkers.

The Left is out to destroy Sarah Palin and any possibility of her presidency. Outrageous behavior and very telling of supposed GOP leaning pundits.

Ace of Spades summarized this as “John McCain picked Sarah Palin with his [little head]”. To which my response is: If so, maybe he should listen to his little head more often. His little head appears to be a better judge of talent and character than Barack Obama’s big head.

That is why we think she is loony (and a hypocrite). Yet again, Parker willfully ignores Sarah Palin’s record of political achievement and the important offices to which she has been appointed or elected. To Parker, all that is just so much chopped liver, I guess. McCain picking her was really only about Sarah being good-looking and adoring of him. What sexist rubbish.
