Columbus-area man has been charged with making a death threat against Ohio's top elections official.
The State Highway Patrol says Dana McArtor, 51, of 687 Riviera Court in Hamilton Township, was arrested yesterday and charged with intimidation in connection with a threat phoned in last week to the office of Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner.
Brunner spokesman Jeff Ortega said a caller on Oct. 17 threatened to kill Brunner.
McArtor was being held last night in the Franklin County jail without bond, pending an appearance in county Municipal Court this morning. The intimidation charge is a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine, patrol spokesman Lt. Tony Bradshaw said.
Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O'Brien filed requests that McArtor be placed under a $1 million bond and undergo a psychiatric evaluation. O'Brien noted that McArtor served two years in prison for a 1992 sexual-battery conviction in Perry County.

Go figure
I thought Ohio was a lawless state.
this is with regard to someone in the office accessing Joe the Plumber's records, though you wouldn't guess it from the context, would you?
I wonder if calls to the Secretary of State's office are recorded? If not, this guy is sitting in jail and is about to have his thoughts & feelings evaluated all on the word of somebody answering the phones in a partisan gov't office.
“I thought Ohio was a lawless state.”
Only when Democrats break it.
Great observation. My take, also, is that Brunner's staff wants him to miss his chance to vote while he is sitting in jail.
Odd how serious the media takes these kinds of threats, against Democrats, but then threats against Sarah’s family are her fault. Weird media.
investigating security breaches of the secretary of state’s Web site this week..... case over. The ‘Secretary of State” doesn’t have a Website. The State of Ohio does.
Why what a remarkable story! It seems some people get a little miffed when a corrupt official threatens the well being of their nation and their personal rights and liberties! The media will of course be in a state of utter shock over something so, so...petulant!

If a man was going to do something of that nature, why would he share it first?
