Instead of United Way, Give to MND
MensNewsDaily.com ^ | October 24, 2008 | David R. Usher

This is the time of year when many companies ask their employees to give to United Way. We should all give something to those who need it and who do good works if we have the reserves to do so.

Unfortunately, United Way funds a very long list of radical feminist advocacy organizations — organizations that hurt us all. .... continue reading

I refuse to donate to any charity which has executives that make more than I do. Most people have access to one or more local charities that actually have more of a direct impact on where they live than the big “mega-charities” like the United Way.

How about that charity that Rush Limbaugh gave when he auctioned off that "Dirty Harry" letter? (Then did a matching grant).

The "Marines Corps Law Enforcement Fund"?

I’ve always refused to give at the office (or anywhere else)to the United Way. They have a long history of jumping into every dishonest political pork-barrel scheme that comes along. Political propaganda makes something popular and they’re into it - no matter how little good it actually is and no matter how many people get hurt by it.

The number one reason to NEVER donate to United Way:

Planned Parenthood

I just gave to an animal charity..the National Antivivisection Society (NAVS) ...I chose that one through my “volunteer” work contribution.

Most work places have a huge manual of lists of organizations, religious, animal charities, local characteries. Take a look at it..you will be surprised!

United Way has been a far left outfit for decades.

I stopped with the United Way a long time ago ... probably when they pulled that crap with the Boy Scouts, if not sooner than that.

I give directly now to charities ... and I get plenty of return address labels in the mail to guilt me into more. It might've even worked ... if I didn't pay all my bills online now. I only need labels from Christmas cards now. With snowflakes or trees or Ziggy with a scarf, ice skating ...

Whoops, thread drift ...

We haven’t given money to United Way in years. We don’t need someone to tell us where are money should go. Plus I didn’t like the way they treated the Boy Scouts!
This way we give to who we want!

When they used to come around and ask for pledges to the United Way I would always refuse because I said they supported causes I found abhorrent. They would always try to tell me I could direct my pledge. Every year I had to explain that directing a pledge simply frees up general pledges to increase the amount given to everyone else.

United Way is nothing more than a front for leftist politics.

There are a lot of other charities, secular and church, that support conservative values.

Spend your conservative money wisely. Starve a liberal.

No United Way for me, nor Red Cross (except blood) either. If I’m going to donate to any other than my church-ministry-and-related organization it will be The Salvation Army. They give more to the actual mission like food, clothing, shelter or medicine than to their administrative costs.

I am fortunate that my employer permits us to donate to ANY non-profit through payroll deduction during its ‘United Way’ Drive. I donate to pro-life organizations - who now send me literature from Priests For Life and Human Life International through the COMPANY mail! I pray that it may have a positive impact on some mail handler!

We give every year to the Salvation Army. Other than no kill animal shelters, that is our biggest charitable donation. They do the most with the money for the most people! I urge everyone to support the Salvation Army, USO and their local humane society shelter. Forget United Way!

The United Way funds Planned Parenthood and refuses to fund the Boy Scouts. I will never give them another dime.

I notice that MND is headquartered in Honolulu. IMHO, if they were worth a hill of beans they would have pushed the Hussein CLB story and gotten SOME KIND of action on it. Probably all blow and no show!
