Bush asks Justice Department to look into Ohio voter-registration dispute

He does so at the behest of House GOP leader John Boehner. The partisan fight centers on discrepancies in state data.

Reporting from Washington -- The White House has asked the Department of Justice to look into whether 200,000 new Ohio voters must reconfirm their registration information before Nov. 4, taking up an issue that Republicans and Democrats in the battleground state have been fighting over in court for weeks.

The voter names are in dispute because their registration information conflicts with other official data.

The action comes a week after the U.S. Supreme Court dismissed a case brought by the Ohio Republican Party over the same issue. Republicans argue that the mismatches could signal fraudulent registrations; Democrats counter that eligible voters could be disqualified over minor discrepancies such as transposed numbers in an address.

President Bush on Friday asked Atty. Gen. Michael B. Mukasey to review concerns over the voters raised by House Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio).

Boehner wrote to Bush on Friday, saying that if the voters remain on the rolls without added checks, "there is a significant risk, if not a certainty, that unlawful votes will be cast and counted."

The partisan fight

Partisan my @$$! This is about whether the law has been violated. Now we know why the media refuses to look into this issue. According to them, voter fraud is just another ho-hum election event....

I hope to God that Mukasey doesn’t back down to these rat attorneys. No legally eligible to vote person will be disenfranchised. This is the same crap they’ve been throwing out the last 2 election cycles.

The essence, in fact, the textbook definition of a RINO or a moderate. They are too palsy with the other side to kick them in the nuts sometimes when they have to. Leave it to the red meat conservatives to “git er done”.

He probably learned that a couple of college kids were able to do what the democrat Sec of State, Jennifer Bruener and Dem Atty General, Nancy Rogers, of Ohio couldn't.

As a result of palestra article:

Obama Staff Withdraw Votes In Ohio

13 Obama staff members were caught and had to send letters yesterday to the Franklin County Board of Elections voluntarily withdrawing their votes.

The essence, in fact, the textbook definition of a RINO or a moderate.

RINOs are different from moderates. A moderate who favors conservatism, but for whatever reason is limited (sometimes severely so) in his ability to advance it. A RINO is someone who opposes conservatives, because if conservatives were to succeed he'd lose his raîson d'être. Note that the largest beneficiaries of Democrat fraud are not Democrats, but RINOs.

I’m glad GWB is doing something to help out McCain - he needs to attack vote fraud whereever it might exist, not just in Ohio.
