McCain/Palin Poll Numbers Show Improvement in Michigan Prompting Bus Tour to Return to Michigan

* Rallies on Monday in Saginaw, Grand Blanc & Battle Creek

*Rally on Tuesday in Hillsdale

[MICHIGAN] -- A federally registered independent political action committee supporting the McCain/Palin presidential ticket is returning to the Great Lakes State as internal polling shows some improvement for the McCain campaign in Michigan.

"The Stop Obama Tour" traversed the Upper and Lower Peninsula of Michigan from October 23-25 and was in Ohio at the house of "Joe the Plumber" (Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher) when the positive polling news was received.

As a result, the Our Country Deserves Better Committee (website: www.OurCountryDeservesBetter.com ) has canceled planned events in Ohio and Pennsylvania to add Monday rallies in Saginaw, Grand Blanc & Battle Creek and a Tuesday morning rally in Hillsdale.

"We are so excited to see the reversal in the poll numbers for John McCain and Sarah Palin in Michigan," said Deborah Johns, a Marine Mom who is a spokesperson for the Our Country Deserves Better Committee.

"We're still a bit behind and we have a lot of work to do, but we are feeling very optimistic about the momentum that has started to build," Johns said.

The Our Country Deserves Better Committee will also continue running its television advertising campaign against Barack Obama and in support of the McCain/Palin ticket.

"Our message to the people of Michigan is that we won't give up the fight to have John McCain win this state, so long as you don't give up fighting either," Johns said.

Too bad the McCain campaign stupidly announced that it was writing off Michigan a few weeks ago.

Returning to Michigan in the final weekend would be an UNBELIEVABLE psychology blow IMO. McCain camp needs to do this.

Schedule a trip to Michigan would make a MONSTER positive news cycle for McCain with the statement that “We have the momentum, and we’re going back into Michigan!”

John Rino McCain better hope the trend is his friend and he gets a HUGE surge of “undecided” or “democrats” that he’s formulated his campaign to attract who finally realize that Obama doesn’t have the experience nor love for what made this country great (like American’s sacrificing their own lives to not only free black slaves but to give them their rights during that 60’s) to warrant him to become president. A rebuke of Barack and democrat socialism would be quite a feat.

A Michigan voter who has seen what a Democratic governor and Democratic Detroit mayor has done to ruin the state’s economy would have to be a moron to vote for any Democrat.

Yes there are stupid staffers. Lots of them. Even here in FL we deal with them every day. But the volunteers remain as a devoted bunch and we will pull McCain through.

And if you (not you personally baer) have not volunteered, what is stopping you? There is lots of work to be done and we need every single soul who is capable of doing the mundane of tasks.

“A Michigan voter who has seen what a Democratic governor and Democratic Detroit mayor has done to ruin the state’s economy would have to be a moron to vote for any Democrat.”

Most voters in Detroit are on the government payroll already in the form of welfare and getting city or state services. They are going to vote to continue to get the money without having to work. Unfortunately that means they will vote for obama...including the citizens of any and all Detroit cemeteries.

I have no doubt that the people of Michigan would want to vote for McCain, and given a fair election McCain might have won. But Michigan has already been stolen for Obama. Wayne County (Detroit) has registered 96% of the population — that’s as clear a sign as you get that voter fraud is rampant. 96% registration is like Saddam Hussein winning 100% of the vote in his fake elections.

We need to take the First Dude hunting in Michigan and have Sarah drop the puck in Hockeytown. McCain would gain 8 to 10 points.

I went to the “Our Country Deserves Better” rally yesterday in Grand Rapids. They were saying they really thought Michigan would go to McCain. The crowd went nuts. It looks like they were serious based on changing their schedule to stay in Michigan.

Yes BUT: Wayne County is not the entire state of Michigan. What about Macomb County? Everything NORTH of Eight Mile Road? The Upper Penninsula. From Wayne County's western border across Michigan to Ann Arbor, Lansing, Grand Rapids and up Lake Michigan coast to Traverse City and beyond...down the other side of Lake Huron and everyhting in the center of the "mitten" that is Michigan state?

How can "as goes Detroit, so goes the state" be the connclusion?

I'm now in Virginia and we have NoVA probably going Obama like Wayne County, but NOT the rest of the state.

John Engler won without Detoilet, McCain could too.

Ann Arbor is more liberal than Detoilet and their newspaper is afraid of him. That alone should tell you that Michigan is still in play.

The Jackson Citizen Patriot, a rather moderate newspaper, today STRONGLY endorsed McCain!

The McCain campaign is not awash in billions of dollars (much of it of questionable origin) like the Obama campaign. Actually having 527's and PUMA's hold the ground, while Obama moved staff out would be smart. Add to that a return to the state by the McCain campaign along with campaign rallies in the state to promote the state as winnable, well that's freaking brilliant. It is good guerilla warfare tactics. Wonder if McCain is applying some of his Annapolis learning.

They are not the whole state.

Many, many of those outside of the major cities of Detroit, Flint, Lansing, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids will be voting for McCain. Many other people (pro-life women, for one) who wouldn't vote for McCain and a male / pro-choice female running mate will be voting for Palin.

That McCain is the person who is top billed on the ticket will just mean that Sarah gets 4 years of On The Job training before running at the top of the ticket herself in 2012.

“We understand Obama’s appeal. He’s very intelligent, he has the ability to inspire, and he offers a sense of steadiness in turbulent times.Â

However, several aspects of his candidacy remain troubling. His tax policies - especially with a friendly Congress and possibly even a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate - are worrisome. He clearly sees taxation as a way to redistribute wealth, and this goes deeper than one offhand remark to “Joe the Plumber.”

He has emphasized the proportionally small number of taxpayers who face an increase under his plan. But he’s asking that small number’s money to do an awful lot: jump-start the economy, cut taxes for everyone else, shore up Social Security, and so on. A call for change: Elect John McCain
by Jackson Citizen Patriot
Sunday October 26, 2008, 8:25 AM

“The mandate for change, already clear from the public’s disenchantment with Congress and President Bush, will be satisfied no matter who is elected president. However, voters should be careful to separate the candidates from their rhetoric.

They must focus on who has proven himself over time, and who can steer this nation with ideas that are reasonable and do not discourage investment in this nation’s future.

The better choice in this election is Republican John McCain.

I am a member of the UAW (I work for Chrysler as a union electronic test technician). At the last union meeting outside of the union hall (in Madison Heights) there were all the Democrat signs outside EXCEPT Obama's. They announced that they were selling UAW supports Obabma buttons for $1 each but they weren't out for display or even easily available - was told to talk to your Union rep if you wanted one.

Unfortunately I think it's more the race thing than the Obama terrorist / extreme leftist Socialist thing. But there does seem to be an undercurrent of being unsure of what would this guy really do if he got in office (maybe for example tax the heck out of blue collar workers and give 'em to welfare moms, etc.) that has people worried about him, and I don't think he'll get as much support from traditional blue collar union workers as Democratic candidates in the past did.

Michigan has the same problem other states do, there is a large metropolitan that, no matter how the rest of the state goes, wins the state for the wrong candidate.

I know that the majority of the state will go McCain, but the big city/cities will go Obama. Which segment will have the most votes is the question that needs to be asked.

Detroit was enough to put Clinton over the top twice. All they have to do is hold back the Wayne County precint numbers long enough to find out what the returns are from Macomb and Oakland counties. Then they’ll know how many votes they’ll need. You watch, my friend. The last county to report its numbers will be Wayne. It always is.

Now that’s a huge improvement over California. We’ve got no ID requirement out here.

The problem in Michigan will come with absentee ballots. Those are much looser, and that’s what Wayne County will use to make sure Obama wins. Mark my words, Wayne will be the last county to report its returns. They’ll wait until Macomb and Oakland county reports, and then they’ll know how many votes they need to put Obama over the top.

Michigan voter roll surges to 98%.

Almost the entire State of Michigan has registered to vote according to the Secretary of State. Most of the increase in registrations have come from Detroit and the college towns.

Anybody out there think these areas were vastly under-registered compared to the rest of the state? Or is it more likely they have more registered voters in those districts than persons of voting age?

Personally, I suspect Michigan is a write-off due to fraud. I hope and pray I am wrong, but I trust Rats to be Rats.
