In a day, Nader tries to talk his way into record books

BOSTON—Independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader says he now holds the world record for most campaign speeches in a single day.

Nader, 74, who is on the ballot in 45 states but is polling in single digits, said he delivered at least 255 minutes of speeches in 21 Massachusetts communities on Saturday. Nader said that was enough to get him into the Guinness Book of World Records.

Guinness officials said Nader needed to give at least 150 minutes of speeches, with each speech lasting at least 10 minutes. And each time, there must be at least 10 people watching who didn't come with Nader.

Beginning at 8:15 a.m. Saturday in Westfield, Nader used several settings for his speeches, including a deli, a farmer's market and a library. Nader closed his day with an 11:30 p.m. campaign party in Sheffield.

I would think he holds the record for most times running for POTUS, and most time losing POTUS.

It's great that Ralphie Boy has his priorities in the right order. The other one will be his photograph in the American Picture Dictionary, right next to the definition of "Idiot".

Now that this election is in the bag for Obama, all committed anti-War voters should be happy to cast their votes for the only real anti-War candidate in the race, Ralph Nader.

Barack Obama has said that he will extend the War in Iraq and is already talking about extending the War in Afghanistan. Then we have VEEP candidate Joe Biden warning us that Obama will probably have us embroiled in a whole new war within six months of his inaugeration.

A vote for Barack Obama is a vote for more pointless and endless war. Vote for peace! Vote for Ralph Nader!

If not, then he is a very close second to Glenn Hall.

Well, I’m glad that this independent, or not-of-one-of-the-two-politically-relevant-parties ... candidate is so focused about the important issues.

Speaking of “those other parties”:

I’d register Libertarian, if I thought the party was going to go anywhere. I won’t say if it’s exemplary or not, of other “third parties”, but it looks to me like the Libertarian leadership is responsive, not original, and not likely to actually make a difference, speaking frankly.

I’m registered non-partisan, and I’m honestly not so concerned about how that affects my vote in regards to the primaries. I can deal with it; it seems like that’s the right place for my registration — no party, “thank you.”

I mean, if they could all get to the point of government, and leave the damned politics at a minimum ... but that ain’t how it is, it looks like.

So it goes, I suppose, in the continuation of this grand experiment for liberty.

Ralph's first job out of law school was working for Daniel Patrick Moynahan at the Department of Labor. Ralph approached Moynahan one day and whispered that he was sure his phone was being tapped.
Moynahan later wrote Nader believed he was working for the State Department...

Not even close. The winner (name escapes me) ran 10 times.

Did research, couldn’t find...sorry.

But Norman Thomas ran (and lost) six times.

Nader needs three more runs to beat this guy.

I do. I love the idea of Nader votes. The more Greens, Code Pinks, and Socialists we have voting their values with the candidate who openly agrees with them, the better for everyone in this great country of ours. I hope and pray that Nader will catch fire with his natural constituents.
