I would recommend that if it is bothering you, that you get it checked out.

In seriousness, it does not sound like a typical slug hazard.

And at the extreme side of things, things like the flesh eating bacteria work on a dangerously fast schedule. There is no reason to make a leap that it is anything like that but nature has some nasty things.

The toxins of brown recluse spiders are also very strong.

Do you have insurance or would you have to pay out of pocket for a doctor visit?

Infection is a real female canine. I went to the emergency room last year with an it’s-probably-nothing infection on my foot, and got admitted for three days while they pumped IV antibiotics into me. Yech.

Do you even know the difference between slug slime and slug splooey? It makes a Hugh difference you know! You may not be slimmed at all, in which case it may already be too late.

On a serious note—i say it was a leech, but the best solution is to call the doc...that is free. Take a pic, and bring it to the doctor..in case the symptoms advance. Skin docs love pics:)

Yes. They were green, with clusters of spines on their backs. Parents in the neighborhood called them "asps." That was a few decades ago. Insects and other small animal populations tend to change there from time to time. ...used to be gobs of horned toads there (not to mention the armies of plain, old toads that came out of the ground during heavy rains), and chameleons. ...lot of venomous things that sting and bite in tropical areas.
