With a liberal majority in Congress and Obama in the White House every attempt will be made to dilute the 2nd Amendment. Fortunately, at least for a time, the US Supreme Court will be unlikely particularly after the recent Heller decision to accept new infringements on gun ownership. However, if a President Obama can make several appointments to the Supreme Court that would change and the second amendment could be gutted by a radical court decision just like the Kelo vs New Haven decision gutted our 5th Amendment rights against government taking of private property.

One of the first things that 0bama would sign into law
supercedes all state laws on the issue (abortion).
Why would not he and Congress just simply pass a huge widesweeping gun control law?
Oh, wait, they DID that in 1994.

Initially, all he has to do is legislation like the one he previously, per Lott, that restricts the sale of firearms within five or ten miles of a school or park. Combine that with an large tax on ammunition and he’s 90% of the way there without “banning” a thing.
