Another possibility is that with all the stories about unreliable voting machines, many voters, on both sides, have decided that an absentee ballot is safer since it provides an actual piece of paper with your vote on it.

They have to be notarized before they are mailed back?

That's a possibility, but I would hope there's some sort of "two-person" rule when it comes to accessing the machines or the ballots.

There are precincts in Cleveland that, in past elections, have had NO votes for the republican candidate. I can certainly see that happening in such a location. Who's to stop them? They can claim that a republican is there watching, but it's easy to declare yourself a Dem or Republican on election day. And in the general election, you can still vote for the other candidate.

feel the same

I will vote on election day in person knowing my vote will not get lost or a partisan officials drops mine in the trash...

As for registering, well if you can’t be bothered to get off their arse and show up in person with an ID then maybe they should not be voting either.

Plus maybe 10 questions should be asked , so that way they would know what they are voting for

course the Dems would never get in power again

That's why the inner city precincts are always so late with their totals, it takes the rat poll workers longer to vote the no show ballots.

If there is not a Republican in the counting room, you can bet on fraud.

“Looks like ACORN has been busy in Cleveland.”

For a long time. At least since 2000.

Don’t forget that people have left Cleveland/Akron/Canton/Youngstown in droves.

What's the matter with Ohioans? Are they too lazy to get out and vote in person?

I don't believe so, I think these requests are for ballot stuffing.

An entire state cannot just decide to stay home and vote absentee. What happens when they have 80% absentee requests, 40% turnout at the polls, and 80% of the 80% of the absentee ballots voted and returned?

Ohio could become a huge problem if they have a huge >100% turnout. There is no way that the results could be accepted if they have 120% turnout between in-person and absentee voting.

I did because I’m working at the polls, and I can’t vote on election day. I also worked for McCain, and they did a big push where they were going door to door to registered Republicans to with absentee applications in case they wanted to vote absentee.

Consider this (for public consumption, but I mailed you earlier some other stuff): a requested ballot puts a little asterisk next to your name. If you don't vote absentee/early, then come in on Nov. 4, you MUST A VOTE PROVISIONAL BALLOT.

Many who get these early/absentees do not vote. In the past, the response was very high, because elderly would mail them back the day they got them. Not the "new" voters.

Moreover, we are seeing some very LOW response rates in our county, a substantially DEM county. GOP counties tend to drive up the numbers.

Nearly one third will likely be absentee/mail-ins? Unheard of. It will be a miracle if Ohio goes for McCain.

Well, it's a piece of paper with a vote, but is it yours?

The fundamental difficulty with paper ballots is called "stuffing the ballot box".

Seems to me the way they handle mail-ins this would be the most easily corrupted technique to select.

The real story here is that Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner isn’t in jail. She has been the main player in the criminal voter fraud going on in Ohio.

Don’t absentees tend to break for the Republican?

Nearly 1.5 million voters through Oct. 24 requested an absentee ballot either in person or by mail,...

Nearly 15,000 were able to be sated via ACORN coercion to vote ten times via absentee ballot.
