my son has been working the phones in VA for the past few days with very positive results. His Northern Virginia McCain office isn’t feeling worried at all. Except for some yellow dog dems...he’s had great convos with dems, who are not all that cemented to voting for Obama. His MO is to use his best NPR voice, and he always mentions the fact he is actually a registered democrat who is voting for McCain.
Anecdotally, as he is 21, and knows quite a few college kids who are Obama supporters but go to school out of state, and have “forgotten” to fill out absentee ballots. He’s not convinced Obama should rely on the youth vote.

I’m proud of your 21 year old son not only voting at all, but voting for McCain, and working for him to boot in a so called swing state!
Took my USMC son who is 25 to finally register to vote and is just now tuning into politics, and does not like what he’s seeing at all. He can’t stand the thought of ever having to salute the big 0. He will proudly be casting his first ballot ever from Ft. Worth, Texas. He and his fiance’ from Miami (she is hispanic from Nicaraugua — been here since she was 2 years old and is a citizen) is voting first time ever too! I am so excited and happy about these right minded young folks, more good Republicans to keep the former Republic of Texas right and good.
My oldest thinks that also, says that only conservative students actually take the time to vote, the others just talk. My middle one thinks his very liberal musician students he is surrounded by in NY will actually take the time to vote this year not just talk about doing so like they did with Kerry, I guess time will tell.
