Not me. I'm in Colorado Springs (not so big, of course--about 450,000), and I've never had to wait more than a minute or two at the polling place.

Rush mentioned that FDR actually prolonged the depression.
LOL, back in the day I would get .02 for bottle deposit, 5 bottles would get me a couple rolls of caps for my cap gun.
In my old neighborhood, old Asian women would slash open the recycle bags with box cutters to find the gold early in the AM. Sanitation guys hated ‘em.
This is just blowing me away. As I was growing up I never heard anything but good about FDR.

I just remembered, (Heh-heh) as a kid in the 50s, I used to collect newspapers and magazines for sale to recycelers. Had to go out early before the horse-drawn junk wagon came through.
My mom still hates FDR and she was only born the year he was first elected, 1932. So all my life I heard how “this country was ruined by FDR.” But I realize that for a lot of people the opposite is true.

...And quart bottles were worth a nickle. The store around the corner would only accept the bottles if we spent the money there....candy, soda, etc. If we wanted cash, we’d walk “up to the avenue” to the A&P to return them.

I ordered flowers from FTD last month and when I got my Discover credit card bill on 9/25/08, the charge was billed like this:
FTD.COM DOWNERS GROVEIL.
As I looked over the rest of the charges on my bill, I noticed another charge for exactly $40. billed like this:
IPASS AUTOREPLENISH #540 DOWNERS GROVEIL
I immediately called Customer Service at Discover and told them I wanted that charge removed since I never have, and still don’t subscribe to I-Pass in Illinois, and I have no “automatic” deductions (for any bill) set up from this card.
(I ONLY have Sun-Pass in Florida that has an automatic deduction from my American Express Card when it gets low).
Discover removed the charge and is now investigating the source of the charge.
I told them that I had heard of people who were finding charges on their credit cards to the Obama Campaign (also out of IL), and that I suspected that the bogus charge on my card could have very likely originated from an Obama operative.
Have any of you noticed any bogus charges on your cards from Downers Grove, Il.??

I remember as a little kid, my mom registered to vote so she could vote for Nixon vs. JFK. She really hates the Kennedys as a political family.
