While looking through the Gallup website I chanced upon this (revealing) chart comparing where Reagan and Carter were in late October, 1980. The situation looked to be VERY SIMILAR to where things currently stand with McCain and Obama. With three of the current polls (IBD-TIPP, Gallup & Rasmussen) showing McCain within 3% of Obama (and the polls tightening) is such a Reaganeque comeback also possible? (Remember, we all know who BLEW OUT Carter in the 1980 election.) :-)
